투명한 아크릴를 사용하는 이유:

외부에서 얼핏얼핏 내부를 볼 수 있지만, 사실상 그 안에 들어오지 않는 이상은 자세히 볼 수 없다. 그렇기에 나는 나에 ‘청춘’의 방을 투명 아크릴로 만들기로 하였다.

“한 사람의 자아는 그 사람의 청춘기에 형성된다. 청춘기에 받은 다양한 외적 영향은 그 사람의 내면에 축척되며, 때로는 생활 공간에 재표출되기도 한다. 그렇다면, 공간에 표출된 영향들을 재구성한다면, 그 사람의 정체성과 그 형성과정을 엿볼 수 있는 통로가 될 수도 있다. 다시 말해, 한 사람의 정체성은 하나의 ‘방’으로 표현할 수 있을 것이다.”

SNS 계정도 어떻게 보면 하나의 공간, 하나의 방이 아닐까 싶다.

실제로 현재의 우리의 청춘은 한 공간에서 형성되고 진행되며 축적된다. 내가 영국에서 살았을 때도 나는 플랫쉐어를 통해 하나의 내 방을 갖고 생활했고, 한국에서도 하나의 내 공간, 내 방을 갖고 생활했다. 특히, 실제로 현대의 젊은이들은 하나의 방이라 불리우는 원룸에서 생활을 하기도 하고. 이런 것들이 마치 우리의 청춘을 대변하는 것 같다.
