Got my first metal cage on Monday. Way more comfortable than any plastic ones I've used before and I tried quite a few of the major brands. Less pinching and less skin irritation from rubbing. I can definitely say metal is better. The plastic ones seem to be great to start and get some bearing on sizing, especially for the ring sizing, the ones with multiple rings are great for this. Aside from that, the plastic ones are pretty useless.
