For a star to be born, there is one thing that must happen: a nebula must collapse. So collapse. Crumble. This is not your destruction. This is your birth.

Iâve found that growing up means being honest. About what I want. What I need. What I feel. Who I am.
Epiphany. (via 1missedcallfrommom)
1) A boy telling you youâre pretty wonât make you see the beauty in the fullness of your cheeks, in redness of your lips at 2 in the morning when tequila is making the bar bathroom spin. He canât take away the ugliness that you see in yourself, you have to do that. 2) You have to be ready to hear someone say they love you. You have to be ready, and you have to be willing, and you have to listen. Because sometimes, they wonât say those three words, theyâll put a blanket over you while youâre watching a movie, theyâll kiss your cheek when they think youâre asleep, theyâll smile when they see you first thing in the morning. But you, you have to be willing to see it, feel it, let it in. Letting someone love you takes practice. 3) Donât make compromises you canât live with. Compromise is a different version of what you want, not a whole other Universe. 4) Learn to say no. No - to a movie you donât want to watch; no - to sex you donât want to have, no- to a relationship thatâs driving you mad. Say no - to things that hurt you, to people that extinguish your fire, to jobs you hate and places that are desolate. There are bad things that we canât control, bad things that happen and we are sucked into and have to feel with every fibre of our being, but the rest - learn to distance yourself, learn to say no. 5) Donât expect people to walk through fire for you - not your parents, not your friends, not the person youâre in love with. Love doesnât mean sacrifice, love shouldnât mean sacrifice. Donât expect someone to give away pieces of them, so they could fit you better. And donât feel hurt when they refuse to - itâs self-preservation. Instead - learn from them. Do it as well. 6) Donât tether yourself to people. Learn to make connections, to love, with both your feet steady on the ground. Learn to let people pass through your life; like a summer breeze, not a storm thatâs just been unleashed. 7) Learn the difference between growth and growing up before itâs too late. Rooftops and water fights and ice cream for breakfast can be a part of your life at 10, 25, or 35. But by the time youâre 35 you need to learn to say enough, to be able to walk away, you need to be able to love yourself. Love yourself the way you loved yourself at 10, before the world had a chance to fill your head with ugliness.

And if thereâs one thing in this world Iâve ever known for sure, itâs that this girl is gonna crush me like a small bug, leave me so fucking broken thereâll be body bags beneath my eyes from nights I cried so hard the stars died. But Iâm like, go ahead. Iâm all yours. I would kiss you in the middle of the ocean during a lightning storm, cause Iâd rather be left for dead than left to wonder what thunder sounds like.

I despise my own hypersensitiveness, which requires so much reassurance. It is certainly abnormal to crave so much to be loved and understood.

Falling in Love
Right now I am thinking about the act of falling. What is means to fall. I am thinking about how we are told that we only have so much love to give and so much of ourselves to give and then we run out. Well, fuck that. I am constantly changing, shifting, becoming, relearning and unlearning. The me that you love today is both the same and a different me that you will love tomorrow and in a year and five years from now. And maybe future you and future me will love each other, but also maybe we will not. Maybe this is ok.Â
There's the boy meets world quote from Topanga where she says "I do my thing and you do your thing. You are you and I am I. And if in the end we end up together, it's beautiful."
Well and maybe if we don't it's beautiful too.
âI donât fit.â
When I loved myself enough, I began leaving whatever wasnât healthy. This meant people, jobs, my own beliefs and habits - anything that kept me small. My judgement called it disloyal. Now I see it as self-loving.

Fears
I hate that break ups bring out the worst in me.Â
I get scared. I get scared that no one will love me. That I'm not worth it. That... I'm too much to put up with, that I'm tiresome. That I'm not smart enough, that I bore people. I worry more and more about what other people think of me. I'm scared I'll never meet anyone new and that the new people I do meet will only be interested in me because of the way I look, but that once they get to know me... they'll change their mind.Â
I know I have to deal with these fears, but I'm not quite sure how.Â
âThe trick, kiddo,â his mom replies slowly. âIs finding someone who complements you instead of completes you. You need to be complete on your own.â

THIS FOREVER AND ALWAYS.
You are not clingy, or needy, or silly for having needs for affection and affirmation and attention within a romantic relationship. Those needs arenât an embarrassing outgrowth of your low-self esteem or depression or whatever messy emotional issues you may have going on, thatâs just basic shit that people need from each other. We of course should not make our partners responsible for meeting all of our emotional needs â itâs not someoneâs elseâs job to make you happy. But inside a healthy relationship, being able to show affection, pay attention, and demonstrate âyou are amazing and important to meâ is a pleasure, not some task or burden.

"If you love a flower, donât pick it, because if you pick it, it dies and it ceases to be what you love. So if you love a flower, let it be. Love is not about possession. Love is about appreciation" Osho
 i have dead flowersÂ
in vasesÂ
all over my messy room
pressed tightly into books
on bookcases with petals
scattered
I think of when we were together
The feeling of that time
My dull depressed state
Masked in a manic happiness
Of disbelief that someone like you
Could be with someone like me
