Have you had a bad experience with the proship community? Well, here’s the place to tell your story or just express your issues or concerns with the community!

Please be aware that this a safe place for all people, anti or proship to talk about their feelings and experiences.

This is not a blog to say whether proshipping is right or wrong. Just a place to talk about issues concerning the proship community. (Yes, I’m aware that is gonna create a bit of a gray area🙂‍↕️)

Im a proship, but i do hate the bordeline "the curtains are just blue" mentality SOME proshippers have. Like, no, you are not racist if you like lovecraft. Yeah lovecraft author was racist and that impacts the story.

Its kinda of a shitty but it happens way to often but im gonna use my fandom: Deltarune. it is telling that a lot of people really hate the homeless disabled man, and victim blame him for being homeless and disabled. Yeah, we get it you think Spamton is ugly and unlovable because he is ugly and weird (disabled and mad). At least TRY to not be ableist, please? Altough in my experience pro/darkshipers in Deltarune fandom are chill. The ones in Undertale not so much for some reason.

I don’t identify myself with either “side” of this debate since I think it requires a lot more nuance than people are giving it. I don’t like antis or proshippers or whatever people are calling them now so I usually stay out of it altogether.

However.

I do find darkshippers infinitely interesting. I’ll find myself scrolling through their posts, watching their discourse and reading their defenses for and against the things they and other people do. It’s just. Such a strange little niche. I want to study them in a little specimen jar. Why are they all as a collective….. like that.

I find it ironic that some proshippers try to demean others by accusing them of trying to have ‘moral superiority’ meanwhile the proship label is literally just playing morality olympics about not harassing people. Because it’s a lot better and holier than thou sounding than saying you ship incest

Gcesters (Liam and Noel gallagher ship) have genuinely ruined Oasis for me.

I used to be interested in their relationship, as most fans probably are because that's part of the charm i would say, so I understood the curiosity to some degree, but that was until I came across more and more people that were REALLY into the idea of them being incestuous and how, to them, EVERYTHING is somehow tied back to how much they want to fuck each other.

And of course, even in this case where all the members are adults, there's still space for pedophiles!

They'll make art of Noel raping Liam, and as if that wasn't enough they'll make Liam a kid and Noel an adult. Mind you, it's very "realistic" because they do have an age gap in real life, because you know, they're REAL PEOPLE and REAL FUCKING SIBLINGS.

Or even worse, they'll include their real kids in their fucking twisted fantasies, even the ones who are minors. Noel's kids are very active online too, imagine being a teenager and coming across some weird fanfic where your dad SAs you.

Proshippers are just hypocrites they focus so much on problematic ships instead of the core original principle of ‘let people ship what they want’. Which includes letting people NOT ship something they don’t want to ship. You can’t harass someone for calling themselves an anti or for refusing to participate in incest shipping. Anti censorship people also just seem to want to harass and censor anyone who disagrees with them. I’ve never seen someone who calls themselves proship, actually handle dark content in an interesting way, it’s always just smut. It’s always “antis” who have been better at seeing the nuance in it because they understand that it’s dark content and don’t fetishise it, they can explore relationships without turning it into a sexual fantasy

I’m like most people where I believe fiction doesn’t exist in a vacuum but it’s how the individual handles something that indicates their irl morals. I don’t ship anything majorly problematic BUT I do ship a lot of canon gay characters with the opposite sex not because im homophobic but because I just don’t care and I would rather see a character kiss a girl. What’s ironic is that it was multiple proshippers who said it was too far and I was erasing representation, because the media itself exists in reality so it’s not JUST fiction anymore??. One said they liked my ‘gay breaking kink’ (I don’t have that. It’s just a ship in an au where the character is bi instead of gay). But when I clarified that it’s not a kink or anything they said it seemed I was genuinely trying to erase gay media. Im really confused lol. I imagine some antis might not agree with my ship anyways which is fine, I just didn’t expect proshippers of all people to actively hate on it. I’ve never had a bad interaction with an anti though

A black music artist is getting harassed on tiktok right now for making a joke tiktok of being disgusted because her music is being used for proship content. Lots of them are trying to ‘threaten’ that they’ll just make more edits using her songs or add it to their incest playlists. Just another case of proshippers prioritising shipcourse over real people’s feelings. They’re also trying to undermine her with the typical ‘who even are you’ comments. I just find it interesting how they’re more concerned on making a black artist feel uncomfortable or full of herself, instead of just supporting someone’s music. Especially a queer black person making her own art.

I wanted to make this a long rant but for anyone who is proship or proship- adjacent.

I don’t care what you make in fiction, sure stuff grosses me out, but at the end of the day, i can block you and love on.

But can you just for a moment maybe realize that making jokes about finding an actual grown ass man who was sexually harassing minors hot because he looks like a fictional character you think is hot, is just fucked up. Especially making said jokes towards a victim. Thanks.

maybe it’s just my luck but I’ve been harassed and hated on a lot more for NOT shipping something, than harassed for shipping something that might be gross. Like some ships I make content for would definitely be considered gross and I’ve never received hate for them (maybe because I put a lot of disclaimers and I openly support antis cause… Who am I to dictate what you’re disgusted by lol),

meanwhile I have gotten shamed by full grown adults in fandom for not shipping something. When I’ve made ship content for something else involving one of the characters, I’d get a bunch of comments of people going on about the other ship even when I said to not bring that into my post. And they’re people who preach fandom etiquette too. I’ve been called a red flag for not caring about one popular ship ??

I wouldn’t call it harassment but I do find it ironic idk. I’ve never been hated on for ships I do like, only for NOT shipping something (even by profic people)

As much as i am happy that there are antiship blogs that discuss these issues and are educating people about why radical acceptance and anti-critical thinking is bad, I do think they should also remember that the proship crowd and people who think in that way, are a very very small minority who are just very vocal. The people who are overly passionate about something will talk more about it than the people who just know something for a fact and don’t feel the need to spread their gospel about it. Because it’s common sense to them. I say this because I think some anti-proship bloggers might be harming their mental health by engaging so often in discourse that talks about incest/pedophilia/abuse so much. But outside of this incredibly niche tumblr community, these antishippers are in the majority and I think stepping outside and not taking it upon themselves to educate full grown adults on something they should already know, might be good for them. I mean that in the least mean way possible. These spaces can make it feel like it’s you vs everyone else when it’s just because you’re arguing against carefully curated echo chamber. Like please remember that the 30 year old proshipper you’re arguing with doesn’t know better just because they’re older than you, they were most likely the weird anime kid in middle school trying to escape feeling ostracised again by shaming kids online for being uncomfortable with them

Proshippers need to realize fiction affects reality SO MUCH, this is why movies get banned and episodes of a series get lost, because fiction affects reality. Another thing, it doesn’t matter whether they grew up together or not or if they’re related by blood or not, if they see each other as family THATS FUCKING INCEST.
