Chapter 7 of Down to Earth released and it’s Earth’s pov so of course I needed to draw something

His design is probably the most fun to draw and this chapter also broke me a few times in different ways. 10/10 experience recommend

What kind of birds would the dwarf planets be?

Again I’ve been meaning to draw all of them I just haven’t really had the opportunity to sit down and draw art for myself in a bit. I did draw a few of them a while back though just not the candidates yet

So Pluto is a European Robin, because it’s often said (at least where I am) that when you see a Robin it’s the soul of a dead loved one paying you a visit. Charon is a wren because in a lot of old folk songs wrens and robins were seen as married or a couple and I thought it was cute to include that

Eris is a pied wagtail. No specific reason why apart from I thought it suited her and I like pied wagtails

Makemake is an elf owl! I couldn’t not make him an owl after all, and elf owls are the smallest species of owls on earth, only about 12 to 14 cm long! Also making them one of the smallest birds of prey on earth as well :D

Haumea is a long tailed tit because they are adorable and I love them

Ceres…. Yeah I’m still not sure. For a possibility I have them down as a corn bunting, as a agricultural reference to Demeter since they tend to live in farmlands, but I also kind of want them to be a territorial species because of their personality in canon? There’s always one or two characters in a set that stump me and for the dwarf planets apparently it’s Ceres

In my list I have Sedna as a shrike but no specific species (yet). It’s because of how shrikes impale their prey onto sticks, I thought she’d be a cool shrike because of her whole deal (Sedna my queen)

For Orcus I thought about how he’s often called the anti Pluto cause he orbits opposite him, and about how their namesakes are both gods of the dead so I decided to make him an American Robin. American Robins are a lot bigger than European Robins but yk what I’m ignoring that because I’ve been ignoring size as a factor this whole time.

Quaoar is a skylark for the vibes and I like their little head crest. It’s always fun to design birds with crests so that’s self indulgent

And Gongong is a willow ptarmigan because their call sounds like they’re repeatedly going “awebo, awebo, awebo” and i thought it was a cute tie in to him repeatedly saying his name

don’t know when I’ll draw them but they are on my list I promise!
