Here it is, folks -- my favorite album of all time. Sprained Ankle by @julienrbaker came by me at an emotionally harrowing time for me; I was suicidal, so anxious I couldn't leave my house, and couldn't even look my loved ones in the eye from how much shame I carried inside me. What this record provided was an anesthetic -- a rhythmic, melodic, and harmonic one, composed of songs that at one moment sound like a desperate cry for help and a jubilate aphorism at another. I still listen to it regularly and it still imbues me with the same feelings of solace in the face of acute existential dread -- no record has come close for me in producing the same effect. I'm aware that Julien's sophomore effort Turn Out the Lights -- another great record -- has possibly overshadowed Sprained Ankle due to its wider listener base. I deeply implore everyone to check it out if you are a fan of hers and have yet to listen to it or not even a fan at all -- this needs to be considered among the greats; not just as a contemporary great. Thank you Julien for your beautiful gift -- I will cherish it until the day I perish from this fragile, immovable world.
