MyMy sighed, the sound long-suffering. "Fine. One sip."

She reached out.

And Kiki's hand swayed, just slightly. The glass tilted, spilling water across MyMy's sleeve. The cold shock of it seeped through the fabric.

"Watch it!" MyMy snapped, jerking back.

"Oh no, I'm so sorry!" Kiki immediately set the glass down and grabbed a napkin, dabbing at MyMy's arm with frantic energy. "I'm so clumsy, I can't believe I did that, let me"

"It's fine, just stop touching me"

"There's a bathroom down the hall," Yana offered, her voice smooth as butter. "You could rinse it off. I think the water left a mark."

MyMy yanked her arm away from Kiki's grasping hands. "Ugh. Fine. Give me a second."

She stormed off toward the hallway, muttering under her breath about idiots and spilled water and why she'd agreed to this stupid project in the first place. Her footsteps echoed against the hardwood.

The moment she was out of sight, Kiki's frantic energy melted into something else

a nervous, almost guilty tension. She looked at Yana. Her hands were shaking.

"Did it work?"

Yana picked up the discarded glass and examined it. A faint residue clung to the inside rim.

barely visible unless you knew what to look for.

A milky film that caught the light.

"I suppose we will find out."
