(ANZU LAWSON) Hard to believe this little song was an accidental stumble onto a loop, melody & vibe caught 9 months ago during the pandemic when I dived into learning Abelton. Throughout my music career, I’ve worked with many producers and musicians and still feel I’ve yet to land on that Anzu “sound” but accidents like this are magical when they happen and I’ll simply continue to try NOT to control what channels through anymore and allow whatever genre makes its way through my body into the air, coming into 3D manifestation. Each song is like a child to me, that has its own personality and own purpose in life. Each baby has a little piece of hidden Anzu and hopefully I can make more time to get lost in music again. Here’s to finding your SOUND and exploring. There’s nothing like being inspired and finishing a new song... and grateful for the people who help me see that vision through. @AnzuLawson

My Uncle Yusaku Matsuda would have been 64 today. Sep 21, 1949 – Nov 6, 1989 He was a Japanese actor. In Japan he was best known for roles in action films and a variety of television series in the 1970s & 80's His final film appearance was as the villain Sato in Ridley Scott's Black Rain. In 1988 he was diagnosed with bladder cancer and did not realize the severity of his illness. He died at the age of 40. This October I am standing up for him and many other dear and close friends. (Emotions sprouted by Chemo)  Long story short. The resection of my colon surgery was to remove a small tumor. It was found that some of the lymph nodes were also effected.  Oncologist says that my post surgery scans were as clear as could be and that I’m basically cancer free. Buuuut, because of the lymph node involvement, adjuvant chemo is being suggested as an added preventative.  For me to have invasive chemicals pumped into my body without cancer present first seemed like the craziest thing I’d ever heard of. From the time I first heard of this crazy practice and now, It’s become the craziest way life could possibly teach me to use “choices” in life.  The free will to choose in a way that serves me best.  Emotionally, spiritually, and physically.   For the first two weeks after surgery my mind was drowning in information pulling me up and over like waves crashing on rocks. Painfully throwing me down hard as my thoughts kept reminding me of all the things I would never want my body to go through. Having meditation as a tool was what helped me dissolve beliefs I had and let me be. During meditation I am able to go deeper into a space where waves are quiet, still and no longer effecting me.  My dearest meditation teacher Jeff Kober uses this ocean analogy in his talks. Funny how the first time I went to hear Jeff speak, I had a dream of a Blue Whale coming up from the deep ocean nudging me and wanting me to play.  My life has not been the same since.  During the many weeks in search for alternative therapies, it became apparent to me that we are all faced with choices moment to moment, everyday.  Then it became more apparent that we make choices that create difficulty in our lives because we may have beliefs that life is hard. We choose to be affected by comments made by family members then get all upset, then we may tell people that that person made them angry.  I’m choosing to make it easier now.  Choosing not to agree with them, choosing to stay selective with what I let become a reality which then lingers as an emotion.   This may have been the lesson I was supposed to learn when going through all those hospital visits and years of therapy for bi-polar manic depression in the 90’s. Those emotions that took over my life in the past has finally met the assertive, decisive and now choosey Sophia. The one that chooses to follow truths.  The kind of truths you discover while being present each and every moment. So as my journey continues, “chemotions” will happen, but just like a made up fear, the word chemotion is a made up word. It reminds me how simply we can create. Create anything. That everything has a possibility to lift us up just as much as a possibility to bring us down.  Which do you choose?
