“The Excerpt wants to see the person who defeated the Axiom Bountiful.” They check the small bundle of papers clipped to a board that they hold in their hands. “That is you, isn’t it?”
“Well, yes—” Echo starts, uncertain.
“Then come on.”
“I’m not the only one who fought it. Five Gig helped.”
Blueberri made a show of looking around, as if Five Gig might be hiding somewhere just behind them. Though knowing Gig, he might very well be. “You are the only one here.”
“Well, yes—” Echo starts again, exasperated.
“Then come on.” This time, Blueberri doesn’t wait for Echo. They simply turn around and begin to walk away, leaving Echo to decide if they want to follow after or risk whatever wrath would befall them if they declined an Excerpt’s invitation.
