“it is spring again. the earth is like a child that knows poems by heart.”
Blood drinking creatures.
greek mythology: ananke
ananke is the primordial goddess of necessity, compulsion and inevitability. in the orphic cosmogony she emerged self-formed at the dawn of creation, an incorporeal, serpentine being whose outstretched arms encompassed the breadth of the cosmos. ananke and her mate khronos, their serpentine coils entwined, crushed the primal egg of creation splitting it into its constituent parts of earth, heaven and sea to form the ordered universe. after their act of creation ananke and khronos encircled the cosmos to drive the rotation of the heavens and the eternal passage of time. they were beyond the reach of the younger gods whose fates they were sometimes said to control.
The Evermore Grimoire: Astrology
Aries (March 21st to April 19th) is the first astrological sign in the zodiac. In Greek Mythology, Aries is associated with the winged ram Chrysomallos, who rescued Phrixus and Helle (the children of the Boeotian King Athamas) and provided the Golden Fleece. The king then sacrificed the ram to Zeus (king of the gods) who placed it in the heavens as the constellation. The ram’s golden fleece was later recovered by Jason (leader of the Argonauts). Traits associated with Aries include being loyal, smart, and impulsive. They always have multiple projects on their mind, and won’t be satisfied until their work, social life, and personal lives line up exactly with the dream life they’ve envisioned. Those who are drawn to them may have trouble keeping up, but if they can, they’ll have a friend for life. An Aries sign will always tell you what they’re thinking, with a frankness that may occasionally border on rudeness. But even if they seem overly blunt with their opinion, that’s only because they value honesty above all else. And it works both ways. When it comes to love, Aries signs are all about initial attraction. They can sense chemistry in the first sentence uttered by a potential partner. Forthright and unabashed, they will do everything in their power to go after someone they want. Sometimes, they need to learn how to slow down and foster long-term connections. Fireworks are fun, but they don’t necessarily make a great match. Aries are also amazing lovers: versatile, passionate, and always invested in the moment.

The Evermore Grimoire: Greek Mythology
Harpies (Ἁρπθιαι) were the spirits of the wind who were often depicted as winged women, with the lower bodies of birds in Greek mythology. They were known as the ‘Hounds of Zeus’ and were despatched by Zeus (king of the gods) to snatch away people and things from the earth. Sudden and mysterious disappearances were often attributed to these winged women. The Harpies were once sent by Zeus to plague King Phineus of Thrake (Thrace) as punishment for revealing the secrets of the gods. Whenever a plate of food was set before him, they would swoop down and snatch it away, befouling any scraps left behind. When the Argonauts came to visit, the winged Boreades (sons of the god of wind, Boreas) gave chase, and pursued the Harpies to the Strophades Islands, where the goddess Iris (goddess of the rainbow) commanded them to turn back and leave the storm-spirits unharmed.
