July 26 2020 - Anti-colonialist activists in the French colony of Martinique tore down two french statues.
The activists spraypainted the words “Death to Colonialism!” on the base of the statue of Joséphine de Beauharnais, the first wife of Napoléon Bonaparte, who was born on Martinique to a wealthy family that owned a sugar plantation, before tearing it down. The statue had already been beheaded in 1991.
The other statue was of Pierre Belain d’Esnambuc, the french colonizer who first occupied the island of Martinique for France in 1635. [video]
July 22, 2020 - Portland mayor Ted Wheeler joined the protests confronting the federal troops to get a good photo op, even though the Portland police department under his control participated in much more police brutality than even the federal troops.
He was followed by protesters cursing him out and calling for his resignation, while one protester emptied a bag of spent Portland police munitions in front of his feet.
These flash bangs, gas grenades, stingers, baton rounds and other munitions were shot at the protesters only days before by police under the command of this same democratic mayor Ted Wheeler who now hypocritically tried to join the protests confronting Trump’s federal troops as a PR stunt.
