Today, I fucked up... by rolling my car in my high school parking lot
Disclaimer: This happened four years ago. Finally over the embarrassment enough to share my wonderful story. Also, video link at the bottom for those wanting to get straight to the point.
Somehow my high school baseball team created a reckless tradition to entertain us after practice. Our parking lot has what we refer to as “the pit”, an old gravel parking lot down below our normal paved one.
The best feature of the pit? A sharp decline leading down into it with a small bump at the top. Naturally, my friends and I had to drive over it at excessive speeds to see how much air we could get.
It started off fine, mostly just going off at about 20 mph and getting enough air under the tires to make our stomachs drop a bit. But of course it needed to be taken one step further, by yours truly.
With three teammates in my car and a camera recording, I needed to do something a little more flashy. I accelerated towards the pit, got a bit of air, and landed just fine. Then I decided that the turn going into the pit needed to be drifted in my ford explorer.
Little did I know that accelerating around a corner that had deep potholes in a car with a unfavorable height to width ratio would end so badly. Halfway through the turn, my back wheel hit a pothole and the explorer’s center of gravity shifted to the right, hard.
We went flying sideways, doing a ¾ roll before coming to a stop with the drivers side on the gravel. I had never felt such a huge rush of adrenaline, embarrassment and helplessness all at once. Thankfully no one was injured (besides getting glass shards in my hand).
After an hour of having my high schools students and staff come and gaze down at my misfortune, the car was finally flipped over and towed away. The car was deemed totaled on the spot.
Needless the say, I was the butt end of every driving joke ever made by my family and friends for quite awhile.

TL;DR - Four years ago, I jumped down into my high school’s gravel lot and rolled my car while trying to drift around the corner. The car was totaled and I’ve been known as “that guy who rolled his car in the parking lot” ever since.
