本日、日本でも人気が高い歌手テイラー・スウィフトの5THアルバム『1989』からの4THシングル『Bad Blood』のミュージックビデオが公開されましたが、この公開に合わせ、TwitterがTwitterでのみ利用可能なオリジナル絵文字｢Bad Blood 絵文字｣を提供しています。｢Bad Blood 絵文字｣はハッシュタグ｢＃BadBloodMusicVideo｣をツイートする事で自動的に表示される仕組みで、同曲のキャッチコピーである｢バンドエイドでは弾痕を癒せない｣にちなんだバンドエイドの絵文字が表示されます。 Twitterは同じくオリジナル絵文字の｢スター・ウォーズ絵文字｣も先日に公開しており、｢スター・ウォーズ絵文字｣はウェブ版でも利用可能ですが、今回公開された｢Bad Blood 絵文字｣はモバイル向けの公式アプリでのみ見る事が出来ます。なお、｢スター・ウォーズ絵文字｣は今年12月まで利用可能ですが、今回の｢Bad Blood 絵文字｣は現地時間の明日までしか利用出来ません。［via The Verge］

After filming began earlier in January, and a few photo leaks soon thereafter, not much had been heard surrounding Universal Picture's Steve Jobs movie. Today, however, the studio released the first official trailer for the new movie. The trailer is mostly a single shot of Michael Fassbender as Jobs, with cast voice overs providing snippets and teases of conversations regarding Jobs' true legacy at Apple. While it doesn't reveal much that wasn't already known, the one minute teaser provides a handful of closer looks as Michael Fassbender, Seth Rogen, Kate Winslet, and Jeff Daniels as Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, Joanna Hoffman, and John Sculley, respectively.

The movie has faced turmoil over the years as it began development, with multiple actors up for the titular role and even a change of studios due to scheduling conflicts between Danny Boyle, the film's director, and Sony. This year, as the film's October 9 release date grew nearer, casting calls and set photos began popping up online, even going so far as to offer fans the first glimpse of Fassbender in full costume as Jobs.

Universal Studios has just released the first trailer for the upcoming Steve Jobs biopic. The trailer gives us our first on-screen look at star Michael Fassbender as the Apple co-founder, along with Seth Rogen as Steve Wozniak, Kate Winslet as Mac engineer Joanna Hoffman, and Jeff Daniels as John Sculley.

Photos from the set previously showed us Fassbender and Rogen in costume, but the images in the trailer appear to be from a different scene. The film, which was written by Aaron Sorkin and directed by Danny Boyle, will hit theaters in October.

Earlier this year the movie’s script leaked, revealing key details about the plot. You can view the trailer below:

As expected, Tim Cook this weekend gave the commencement address at George Washington University’s graduation ceremony. Cook, who also received an honorary doctorate for public service during the ceremony, was selected by the university after being suggested by students.

During the speech, Cook discussed a variety of topics and offered up advice to the recent college graduates. Cook spoke about his first meetings with Steve Jobs and how he taught Cook that you could make great change in the world while also being successful in your career. Cook stated that now more than ever you don’t have choose between “doing good and doing well.”

Also during his commencement speech Cook talked about his childhood and growing up in Alabama. Cook addressed his interest in technology and politics as a child and his goal from the beginning to make change in the world.

As you would expect, Cook wrapped up the commencement address by taking a picture of the crowd at George Washington University’s graduation ceremony with his iPhone. A video of Cook’s commencement speech can be seen below. Cook gave a similar commencement speech at Auburn University back in 2010.

Apple, which has already acquired a variety of companies to help its Maps team, appears to have recently purchased San Francisco-based GPS company Coherent Navigation. The company was founded in 2008 by a pair of engineers from Stanford and Cornell. While Apple and Coherent Navigation have yet to confirm the acquisition, several pieces of evidence support the idea.

Coherent Navigation CEO Paul Lego and cofounders William Bencze and Brett Ledvina all recently updated their LinkedIn profiles to show that they have taken a role at Apple. Lego says that he is now a member of the Apple Maps team, while Ledvina and Bencze note that they are in location engineering positions.

Coherent Navigation’s website was taken offline recently, as well. On April 30th, the name servers for the domain were updated to point to Apple’s own servers, further supporting the belief that the company was acquired.

It’s unclear what specifically the Coherent Navigation team is working on at Apple. While independent, the company was known for its High Integrity GPS system, which combined signals from mid-earth orbit GPS satellites with low-earth satellites to offer improved precision and accuracy.

Apple has made a number of acquisitions to bolster its Maps offering since ditching Google Maps in 2012. Apple has acquired companies such as Topsy Labs Inc. and Spotsetter. Apple has also been rumored as a potential buyer for Nokia’s struggling HERE Maps division.
