@approachtheancientkeep
alright done some work, this should help with readability now. converted some endstates to a mobile view - less authentic but more coherent
so i hit up a wannabe delver who's been fully cataloguing the timeline of the Ancient Keep and Skullgrinder and like it's kind of crazy.
But apparently, for the first releases of AK1e and 2e they HANDMADE THE GAME CARTRIDGES after the publisher pulled out in 83
Then just kind of hid the copies in a couple places scattered around the US, hiding it in department stores and electronics stores for people to stumble on.
And, quote, "This is very important, you have to mention one was hidden in the giftshop of the University of New England's Natural History Museum."
So if you need a sign as to the kind of game this is, that's something
I'm pretty sure Skullgrinder Inc. is based in Miami. How did they even get there? What was the point

its beginning to dawn on me the average person probably doesnt know about The Ancient Keep, considering how much of a pain the new edition is to get- not much fandom on this site
Have you entered The Ancient Keep?
no, and i think it scares me
no, and it's normal
yes, in the 90s - 2000s
i found it recently, and i'm scared.
explain to us laymen please
YOU HAVE BEEN SUBSUMED BY THE MOAT SLUDGE
i cant help it i just love the moat sludge ending.
so the ancient keep is a text based adventure game thats technically from i THINK the early 80s? That got buried in the gaming crash after ATARI fumbled the ball majorly
the devs (skullgrinder incorporated softworks) basically fully redo it every few years as a free download, but predominantly its pretty underground because they only ever upload it to places basically nobody can access before it gets shared. (A pentester found it in some backend access for a bank once?)
Anyway its a really weird but just unbelievably fascinating game if you can get your hands on it- the community are super gatekeepy so ive started posting some of my favorite endstates to this blog.
as far as the greater internet is concerned this game basically doesnt exist.
guess i can share more info about it here as long as the diehard keep delvers dont send me death threats abt it
