Black girls deserve to learn free from bias and stereotypes.

Most black girls experience this hatred at schools. And classmates are not the only problem, there is no support from teachers, too. That’s why they get so affected by their school experiences. Black kids deserve to be treated just like everybody else, they want to study, they want to learn something ,too. However due to prejudice they are 5 times more likely to be suspended than their white peers and it can ruin their lives forever. National Women’s Law Center created this video to change the situation. Join the movement to help black girls feel normal and get the same opportunities everybody else has.

CASTING CALL: WOMEN OF AFRICAN DESCENT FOR A BOOK OF PORTRAITS

As the work on the next edition of Black Venus portraits continues, I am scheduling photo sessions and looking for natural women of African descent to be my subjects. The project, and subsequent book, is about celebrating black women from all walks of life. Mothers, mothers-to-be, daughters, sisters, wives, girlfriends, rebels — women of all shapes and sizes, younger and older, are welcome. No modeling experience is necessary.

A U.V.A. student was beaten allegedly for using a fake ID

Martese Johnson, a third-year honor student at the University of Virginia, was arrested and reportedly badly beaten early Wednesday morning by local police. Johnson allegedly tried to enter the Trinity Irish Pub, a local Charlottesville watering hole, with a fake ID at the time of the arrest.

The disturbing incident was caught on video and posted online
