Lacy. Dazzling starlet.
At 17, I wanted to be her so bad.
Porcelain. Thoughtful and quiet.
At 24, I love myself for who I am.

I fell in love with a war. Nobody told me it ended.
I had that dream a few weeks ago— the one where we saw each other again, and decided, of course, it’s finally happening.
Why now? We’re both happy.
This nagging question, will we ever cross paths again?
I’ve drifted far from the mindset I used to have. But with you, it still feels meant to be. A pearl in my hand.

2021
This year is harder than last year.
The world is held by fear, nurtured by fear, and rocked to a nightmarish sleep by fear.
We wake up to the face of fear,
to be embraced by fear,
we travel with trepidation, as if along the edge of a cliff,
accompanied by fear,
shadowed by loneliness,
and the hope that lies in front of us
reveals itself as masked disillusionment.
Is this what it takes to create resilience?
Or are we weaker now?

you’re more than music:
in all these moments I think of you.
you’re the hum of the dishwasher,
pattered rain on the tin roof.
you’re the lock turning late at night,
buzzing honeybee in the afternoon.
you’re the loud bar,
you’re the muffled crowd,
you’re the sweetness of big white clouds
cartoonish in the sky.

they say the planets make sounds,
that Mars rushes like desert wind and Neptune crashes like the ocean.
you said you could hear your heartbeat behind your left eye when you had that headache.
I heard it too:
an entire star system summed up.
