From 1999-2004 Tony Spackman was the lead product developer for Maharishi. Over the 5 years he was at the company he revolutionsed the brands identity, creating many of the iconic shapes and forms that still inspire the brands modern collections.
Spackman has since gone on to work for Nike, and is currently the design director for Givenchy Menswear.
You can check out his collection of work for Maharishi as well as Nike on his personal site
Maharishi - Year of the Dog
Maharishi revealed it’s tribute to the year of the dog, a bomber jacket emblazoned with traditional Chinese dog motifs.
The design is iconic within Chinese art and culture, and dogs are thought to be good friends to human kind, with them able to understand the human spirit.
The dog represents loyalty, honesty, bravery and if one happens to walk into the home, it is seen as a sign of good fortune.
We found this clip the other day from way back. This episode of the "the Look" covered Ralph Lauren, Chanel and Stussy. Read about it here: http://www.stussy.com/stussy-roots-on-the-bbc Watch…
BBC mini documentary on Stussy’s soar in popularity.
Heres a quote from the Stussy archive blog:
"Every once in a while the past comes back to remind you of who you are. Many things have changed since this video was made, especially the fit of of those baggy pants, but one thing that hasn't is our need for a Tribe. It is the most enduring concept of the Stussy heritage and something that still runs strong”
The Maharishi Terminator
A nike collaboration released near the height of Maharishi popularity. Only 1000 were released in 2004.
