The Hunter, the Merc, and the Templar, aka, Characters That Rewrote My Brain Chemistry
From left to right we have Owen Zastava Pitt from the book series Monster Hunter International, Engineer aka Dell Conagher from the game Team Fortress 2, and Brosmýr the Raven from the graphic novel I'm working on Journey of the Flying Serpent.
Owen will always have a very special place in my heart as the first character that I can say I was (and still am) obsessed with. The fact that he's, not only, the protagonist of MHI, but also such a well crafted subversion of expectation of what a main character is supposed to be literally changed my entire way of writing. He's the reason I am obsessed with the "big 'ugly' guy with a sharp mind" trope. Sharp tongue, with a knack for leadership and cunning (even if sometimes he's a little dense when it comes to people), Owen gave me a reason to love books again, as well as enjoy subversions when done right.
Engie is the latest blorbo that's been rotating around in my brain like a rotisserie chicken. The gorgeous southern accent, the fact that he's not a skinny little nerd, his gentlemanliness in contrast with the fact that he's also a mercenary?? Almighty God, it's perfection. I also kinda like the fact that he's still a little unhinged, he literally sawed off his own hand just so he could attach the Gunslinger. My kind of unhinged~ I love the fact that he's the smallest merc, but not a pushover. That he can be a gentle, almost fatherly figure, but will literally threaten to snap his boss in half if he didn't let him go, it's brilliant! Engie's another subversion done extraordinarily well, and the short king of my heart.
Then there's Brosmýr, a character of my own creation, the one that I had (unintentionally mind you) put a lot of my trauma into. The character that I want to make rage, cry, and laugh with joy. I want to see this man snap, and be put back together again, a man who tries his damnedest to keep people out, but desperately wishes they would stay. A broken, lonesome man, who I both want the world for, and whom I wish to see shattered, the one original character that I go back to over and over and over again, and for the life of me, I can't quite tell you why. Perhaps it's the fact that I see myself in him in some way, a self insert in a sense (tho I am neither a man, nor tall, nor Irish), perhaps he reminds me of my husband, perhaps there is something about a man that could snap me in two, but who also needs comfort and love that intrigues me so... Perhaps I just made him hot, who knows, the point is; Brosmýr is the entire reason why I even tried writing Journey of the Flying Serpent, and that's gotta mean something

(Very old) Fanart of my favorite somewhat obscure book series Monster Hunter International. I wanna redraw them.
I just remembered we have this
Another charm design for set 2 that I’ll be selling soon! Gotta love the grumpy pupper!
MHI as Various Posts.
Because I'm re-reading it and I'll probably be posting a lot about it.
