This newest one of a kind ring turned out to be the most chaotic wabi piece so far - the stone cracked, the metal pitted, garnet exploded into brass and brass filled into garnet. Sometimes I’m initially bummed when they turn out so “damaged” like this, but as I cleaned and polished this one I really fell in love with its wildness, and think it might actually be my new favorite. It’s like it’s own tiny world of beautiful chaos, and isn’t that what makes this big world so exciting?

So I'm no longer taking on custom work, but I had to share this last piece I just finished, because I really really like how it turned out. A chunky pink gold geometric design made to frame a family heirloom diamond, flanked by natural black diamonds. Made via @shopkanibal for one super cool lady. ❤ (at Jersey City, New Jersey)

I made these custom wedding bands a couple months ago for Erick and Meghan through @shopkanibal, and now here we are on their special day! His is brushed white gold with their date hand-engraved and hers is carved scrollwork in white gold, edged in yellow gold and studded with diamonds. Last night I got to meet The Beach Boys and then watched them play the most epic performance, including the full Pet Sounds album. A dream!! ✨ A major thank you to @road_recovery for the opportunity of a lifetime and for all the amazing work they do! (at New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC))

Every single Rough/Arcos Brave ring is handmade by yours truly and custom fit to each order. What makes them so awesome are the vintage hobo nickels carved for us by @jbs_creations down in GA, which I curve to fit the ring, and then hammer set into the sterling shank. My dad has spent most of his life working in the car industry, so it's kind of a secret that he's an incredible artist and craftsman. He's been a huge influence on me and my determination to work in art/craft, though I'm not sure how much he realizes that. I think my interest in jewelry started when I was a kid watching him make stained glass lamps and windows in the studio he built in our basement. I started to follow along, and had fun making mosaics out of his beautiful and expensive stained glass (you can even see some relics in the background.) This was his last project - a Tiffany replica - which he abandoned about 20 years ago for reasons I don't quite remember. He stopped working on art, and then an awful shattered heel accident made it impossible for him to stand up for periods at a time, so studio work seemed really out of the question. I guess he just decided yesterday that it was time to finish, just like that. He's back in the basement, returned to the lamp, and is making fast progress. I was so excited to see this lamp be finished when I was a kid - now it's about to happen and I'm just bursting with so many emotions! 💓

I've had an inkling (😉) for a while now that I might be secretly in love with print making - carving stamps to use on my jewelry boxes and cards has been a fun excuse to make it a part of my Arcos whole. So Tim bought me a Japanese woodblock cutting set for my birthday and I made him this woodblock for Christmas, though only just now started printing it. I still have a lot more work left on it, but whoa I'm in love. Bye guys, it's been fun but I'm moving to Japan to study moku hanga foreverrr! Jk, but I think I have an exciting new path to explore this year 😍
