It sure does. But what else is there? I prefer just plain "expat". Or expat wife, when I fancy some gin & subverting stereotypes. At least being an expat wife sounds fun. Trailing spouse is just dull.

No one ever dreams of becoming a trailing spouse. And if you’ve had a successful career in your native country, it’s scary to leave what you know for the unknown. 

As part of my volunteer work with the American Association of Singapore, I “met” with British expat entrepreneur Jo Parfitt who’s found a way to find happiness and fulfillment despite being a trailing spouse. She’s published several books on the subject. 

While I admire what Jo has been able to do with her lifestyle, I’m still doubtful I can find happiness in a life that forces me to move from country to country, especially since I have young children. But I’m giving it a try.
