What I wish I could tell everyone who’s just starting out.
Great advise pretty much applicable for everyone not just design students.
TL;DR: The four-year option vesting program is a historical anachronism from the days when companies actually went public around four years from founding.
Interesting article on a controversial topic that's hot on the startup world nowadays. This is something that I have also thought myself as well sometimes.
While I don't agree with Scott's point of view entirely the The living dead equity problem is something very real and something that should be addressed. How? not sure at this stage but it's something that needs to be addressed.
Effective teams are built upon two types of leadership, domain leadership (players) and people leadership (coaches).

What if your job didn’t control your life? Brazilian CEO Ricardo Semler practices a radical form of corporate democracy, rethinking everything from board meetings to how workers report their vacation days (they don’t have to). It’s a vision that rewards the wisdom of workers, promotes work-life balance — and leads to some deep insight on what work, and life, is really all about. Bonus question: What if schools were like this too?
