she's beautiful and broken all at the same time. someone has to paint her grey sky blue, because for the first time in a very long time, she deserves to look up and smile.
–––– i believe that is ariadne talitha valeria donati / 黄愉霞 (huang yu xia), the queen of gydina. they are thirty years old and are known to be very resourceful & intelligent, though they can also be very cunning & persuasive. they remind me of sapphire crown jewels, constellation of stars forming in the midnight skies, the steady gallops of horses against the ground, fire that burns in her eyes and her soul.
background:
ariadne huang was born into a small noble family in nabar.
they were on the brink of bankruptcy because ariadne’s grandfather was a compulsive gambler and managed to gamble away and leave the family in a huge debt before he passed away.
benjamin huang, ariadne’s father, was a very well-respected man. he was down-to-earth and humble –– a rare trait for someone who was born and raised in a noble family –– which caused him to always be welcomed by the former king.
despite their financial difficulties, benjamin and lillianne huang believe that their daughter still needed the best education they can give so tutors were hired to teach her the things they could not.
aside from etiquette, ariadne’s mother taught her about arts, dance, and music; although she is not particularly good at them, she knows about them well enough to strike up a conversation about them.
the most important thing ariadne’s mother taught her, however, was how to do simple chores such as cleaning the house or cooking. ariadne did not find this derogatory at all; she knew that these are the skills she would need to survive in case she would not be able to hire help.
ariadne’s father taught her martial arts and archery, something completely unconventional to teach a young woman, but these are the things that she excelled in. benjamin also talked to her about history and politics, making her well-versed in these topics which are useful when she became queen.
tutors were hired to teach her about literature, language, and even math. but as she had gotten older, ariadne chose to study these things on her own.
how she met the current king of gydina and how she became queen will be further updated in detail when the king’s role is taken.
personality:
ariadne is a demure and gentle woman. she has a soft voice, but she is also stern. when she speaks, everyone listens.
she believes in woman empowerment; every girl should have an opportunity to learn and not every woman has to end up in the kitchen against their will.
but, ariadne is also loyal to the king. she knows that being devoted to him does not make her weaker; when he tells her to stand back, she will. but she made sure that he knows he could not make her do things that she does not want to do.
ariadne is compassionate and she believes that cooperation is possible, but she is also what we now call a realist in international relations. she believes that every country has an interest and will be fighting for them no matter what, and she also believes in the balance of power and anarchy –– because each country is sovereign, there is no higher power above them and this is what caused the war; disorder due to the absence of a higher authority.
Leave me a stray, catch you in my system
I've been waiting, show me to your kingdom
We can find a place, hold me till the dawn
Million miles away, I'm already gone
Just let me in, I'm in your sunlight
I love the way it makes me come alive
I wanna stay lost in your paradise
Don't wanna be found
You've got me floating now
