The Great June Cupcake Journey
Decided to try my hand at the water part of watercolour pencils.
Why?
Well, for April Fool’s Day, I will be changing out my coworkers’ employee photos for their favourite fictional creatures.
6/20 ish, complete!
Because lying to people isn’t a prank, bro.
Update:
Plus the dragons which Could Not Be Saved:
They aren’t bad!bad, but much like my first attempt at Simba, the quality felt… out of place.
This weekend I got back to sewing while I waited for some faux stained glass to dry. I made two dresses from the remains of a dress up costume. I’ve still got some mater from the dress left over that looks usable, but it might just go in the scraps box.
The dungarees and shirt are made from material I’ve had sitting around for… several years 😅
Made an additional one.

First painting of 2026!
Happy new year 🎉
Made some new fairy wings to match my Halloween flower/fairy crown based on the swallowtail butterfly.
There’s plenty that I’d do different if I did them again, but I’m pretty happy with how they turned out… especially since I was finishing them off only an hour before wear time.
Happy Halloween 🎃🦋
Made myself some Enchantix inspired fairy wings for a recent book week dress up day at work.
I got way too much fabric, but had to go back to the store twice for golden bias tape. There’s over 23 meters on these wings.
The colour panels have inverted colour front to back, because I wanted to get so fancy with things.
Not wanting fully rigid wings, I got two cheap-ish kites from the cheap store and used their bendy rods (fibre glass, I believe) as structure in the top and bottom of the wings, and then kind of prayed the stretch they provided combined with the bias binding liner would hold the shape down the back sides.
Initially, I planned to keep the wings completely seperate on the outside, but as you can see from the final product, I did end up using some of the sheer to connect them together. It was an attempt to give them a more stable default position on my back.
The wings have bent wire strut that slips down the back of my bra, and has two sets of straps that clip onto my bra straps to hold it in place.
They held up well, even when a child decided to “help me fly” by flapping my wings for me. 🤭
The dangling butterfly decorations (the danglies) took the most damage, one of them wrapped itself around the tip of the wing until the thread holding it snapped. I found the fallen danglie right away, thankfully, and I’ve since reattached both butterflies with metal links, which should hopefully hold up better.
It was so fun to be a fairy princess for a few hours~
(I might need a lighter weight tiara though…)
A moment of silence for the fallen, whose memory will live on in all that they helped create.
Back on my embroidery, did Bloom’s Bloomix wings in a little over a day. It’s a bit lopsided and I ran out of the blue I wanted to use, but I’m decently happy with how it turned out.
There’s a few lines and details that I should probably add and fiddle with, but I’m ready to move on I think.
Ref pic:
Been learning face painting lately, it’s a learning curve at every step, but it felt like a level up in skills when I finally got the fancy/proper/expensive face paints.
Such pigment, very colour. It moves with the brushes a lot better.
The rainbow is a single stroke, but the green in my (homemade) rainbow split cake keeps eating the yellow and blue 😫
Easter Bunnyt (bunny bonnet)
I used some thin foam for a base and stitched some paper twine to make the ear patch, the second one went much faster after I figured out what I was doing… and realised I could coil the twine onto tape and stitch the whole thing at once instead of every two-three rows.
The patch was stitched to the ear only around the edge row, then I cut out some felt to cover the ears, stitching the edge of the felt to the edge of the pink.
Realised after the second one I probably should have left the felt whole and sewn the pink to the felt.
The felt layer of the cap was cut where the ears would meet the base, and the excess pink stitched under the felt to hold their place, the excess felt of the ears was stitched on top of the cap cover.
Greenery wiring was looped four times and curled around each ear, getting stitched in place before I went through and stitched in the beads.
With the help of my discord, I was able to pick the superior off-white ribbon for trimming.
Lastly (not shown) I finally used hot glue to add a hair comb on the inside for extra stability when wearing the bunnyt.
It actually has some pretty good balance.
Ariel embroidery
January 21st - March 5th
I took a lot more breaks on this one than EmbroiderBee.
I definitely need to look into a different type of fabric for any future embroidery projects.
Took a break from the long slow progress of Ariel (my current embroidery) to make a bag for my mum.
I missed a few patches on the seems, which I closed with… I believe it’s called ‘blind stitch’?
Also got to use ‘the burrito method’ to maximise the nice seem lines.
Not a bad effort for my first bag.
(Also so super thankful my mother didn’t want it quilted as per the example i was working off. Their instructions were shit and I had no wadding. I almost used felt in its place in a panic before I was told no quilting.)
And yes, one of the elephants is upside down, I was devastated.
