Yes, this is a real plant. It’s Diphylleia grayi (aka skeleton flower), whose petals become translucent when it rains. Weird and wonderful, right?

For the truly Crazy Cat Lady we recommend checking out the current real estate market in Concho, Arizona. There’s a house for sale that looks like an unassuming log cabin home from the outside, but on the inside it’s a cat and cat lover’s paradise. Every surface of every room in this 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom, 2500 Sq. Ft. house has been completely catified and made cat-friendly, including the bathroom:
From the real estate listing:
Contemporary eccentric full log sided custom home on 20+/- acres for the cat fancier! If you love cats this is the home for you! If not bring your sandblaster! Custom build, hardwood kitchen cabinets (Oak, Lacewood, and Bocote) artistically accented with river rock. Cat walkways and in great room Medieval cat castle with different levels (stone). All interior doors custom built (wood). Must see to believe it does exist!!! Once in a lifetime find extremely fun home!
Visit the real estate listing for over 40 photos of this incredibly cat-tastic dwelling, which could be yours for $240,000.

Surreal Sunday is perfect for celebrating these tentacular vases created by Japanese ceramic artist Keiko Masumoto. For part of a recent series Masumoto beautifully combined functional vessels with exquisite octopus sculptures as though the animals got caught in their most impressive feats of camouflage yet.
Head over to Spoon & Tamago to check out more of Keiko Masumoto’s marvelous ceramic creations.
