Hey pals. I'm having a New Year's Eve party at the ol' Mosby Avenue address. I've got prosecco, brie and crackers, and those funky lil knives you cut cheeses with. They're super dull knives too, so don't get any ideas.
The party's open to all, as long as you RSVP and bring a donation to the Arkham animal rescue.
No cults allowed, and do NOT bring any books for Artie to open.
Dearest @potato-lord-but-not, I have returned with more delicious nibbles for you. You may remember me from such posts as “Hey everyone look I made Oscar’s jazz pants”.
Unfortunately for all of us, my brain is still made of holy ghosts/ post-canon-everyone-lives flavoured soup, and I was left alone in a room with a sewing machine. I had planned on doing Noel’s jazz au blazer next but frankly I needed a button up shirt more than a blazer right now so that one got bumped. I already have fabric and a pattern so it’s just a matter of time. If someone yells at me, it might happen faster.
In the meanwhile, may I humbly offer you my take on this John fit.
I figure John’s a texture girlie, so despite the fact that this look is a) stripes on stripes and b) giving up-classed Canadian tuxedo vibes, I opted to do neither (sue me), focusing instead on interesting textured fabrics to bring an elevated comfort to the look. This is less cosplay and more “capturing the spiritual essence of the piece”. Those are art words right? I dunno man I went to science school three times and art school none times.
Aaaaanyway…
The shirt is a cotton/linen Jaquard in petrol blue with an abstract detail. Being a double weave, Jaquard has a bit of heft to it and will be great in the winter, but it still drapes really nicely and has a lovely hand feel. The pants are a 8.6oz wide wale nonstretch corduroy in “grotto” which is like a stormy blue-grey. I think they give enough of a striped effect to be true to the inspo, while honouring my headcanon of John being tactile/texture focused.
Here’s the finished look:
I’m pretty pleased with it overall, though it’s giving way more of a 90s vibes than I had initially expected. Not mad at that to be honest. This whole fit is super comfy and I think a guy that just inherited a physical body for the first time in forever would appreciate the lovely hand feel on both fabrics.
For the interested nerds in the audience the patterns are as follows:
Pants: Sew Liberated pinyon pant. Cut size 4 but ended up modifying the waist down a lot so I’m not sure what size they ended up. I also altered the patch pockets as the corduroy is a bit too chunky for the recommended pleated pockets. Added 2” to inseam and lowered the rise 3/4”
Shirt: Friday pattern co Butano shirt in Jaquard cotton/linen. Cut size medium with 1.5“ added to sleeves. Made one size larger than measurement would recommend for ease through the shoulders and armscye.
I have a whole stack of fabric that I have earmarked for various bits and pieces inspired by potato lord canon because I’m obsessed to the point that it’s becoming a problem. Watch this space for more dork stuff coming your way…
I do technical sewing stuff and weird little crafts at frayededgestudio on IG. It’s heavily sewing focused but the sillies live next to my machine so the creatures occasionally feature, and sometimes I do things like this needle turn appliqué of John looking a bit like the pope.
LOFTIA on steam. REAL important to put this type of stuff on your wishlist on steam. Those wishlist metrics are huge for trying to get traction/talking to publishers. And if you want to see this type of diversity in games, you gotta support the game even if you can't buy it.

being black in any art community is such a strange feeling cause you’ll see just blatant racism being expressed in others art and you have to just casually ignore it, for your sake if anything, colorism being something that’s just fundamentally there in every artist and you deal with it cause it’s not worth it in the end to even think of it too hard let alone even mentioning it, it’s definitely something
Hello nonblack reader of this post, I think you ought to share this one so that you and your peers can actively remind yourselves 1) of how your Black peers feel when you tolerate antiblack racism in your art spaces for entertainment and 2) that we notice it, but don't believe it is secure around enough of you to bring it up 🙏🏾
