a truth serum was slipped into the drinks available at the monster ball, and my muse didn’t realize until it was too late ! for the next hour, they can only tell the explicit truth. no riddles or rhymes, no hiding of any kind—take advantage by sending them nosy questions. no matter what the subject is, they can’t lie or beat around the bush !

01. before being cast for this operation, what was life like for your muse ? where did they live in the world, what was their upbringing like, what personality do they have, etc
the gomez family are from seattle, washington, and have four children. anthony is the eldest child and the only male. he is the definition of cold-hearted & ruthless. he’s known what he’s wanted since he was ten, and that was one thing --- fame. and his mother lived for that. she took her baby boy around to as many auditions as possible, but the stars never seemed to line up for anthony. but that wouldn’t stop him from trying. bit parts here and there kept him afloat, as well as a career in community theatre, but none of that was enough to make him the star that he so desperately wanted to be.
02. what drew them to audition ? what were they cast as ?were they recently cast for the island or were they cast before that ? if they were cast before that, where were they sent to ?
anthony has just recently come to the island as JAMES CASTILLO, a widower and the father to a seven year old little girl. ( also an actor, hired by the producers to really play up his image ). after years of not getting the fame he thought he deserved, anthony decided that he had to go all in for his career. and so he decided to throw away his old life in favour of stardom. anthony has been directed to play up his role as a kind and caring newcomer to the island, and to draw as much drama as he can from the participants with his function as a love interest.
03-A. if they support what the live feeds: why ? what are their favorite parts of the acting job ? do they plan to do this forever ?
anthony plans to do this for as long as he needs to until his talents are recognized and his career can really take off. he doesn’t mind the live feeds --- they help to really put him out there for all the world to see his skills.
04. how are their relationships with their real loved ones ? when the actor gets time off, how do they spend it ?
anthony was always closest to his mom out of everyone, but even then their relationship was rather superficial and surface level. anthony has never cared much for family and, in his mind, career comes first. time off would hardly be spent back at home in seattle --- he would much prefer some sort of exotic vacation to take his moind off of everything.
05. what kind of backstory did the directors tell them their current ‘role’ had ? are they very different from who the original muse actually is ?
james castillo is a single father, recently widowed after his wife’s long struggle with cancer. he is now the sole parent to his young daughter, avery, and is trying his hardest to make ends meet. he moved to elysium for a fresh start, and is currently working as a mechanic on the island to provide for his daughter. he is a sensitive soul, somewhat lonely and broken in the wake of his wife’s passing, and he is on the look out for friendship and female companionship.
this character stands in stark contrast to who anthony truly is --- egotistical, selfish, and ruthless. he’s really got to put on his best acting face now.
06. were they ever forced to do anything they didn’t want to do by the directors / programmers for the sake of good tv ? such as break up with a canon character, physically hurt someone, pick up and move, fake their death, fake an illness, etc
anthony is so new to the island, and thus james has not been forced to do anything dramatic... yet
07. do they grow attached to the canon characters even though its based on lies ?
as of now, no. anthony isn’t the kind of person to form attachments, and while his character of james may be the sensitive type, out of character he really only cares about his chance to prove his worth as an actor
08. how do they feel knowing they, too, are recorded every single moment of every day ? does your character have any secrets (big or small ) that they tried to keep private but were broadcasted live to the whole world ?
anthony doesn’t mind. he knows that, as an a-list celebrity, his every move would be broadcast to the world anyways through the paparazzi. this is just prep work for his future career. right now, he sees himself as an open book.

tucking her blonde locks behind her ears, tegan gave a small, soft smile as she held her notebook and pen in her hands, “do you have a few minutes?” she asked curiously before nodding down to the items in her hands, “i was wondering if you could help me out. i am looking for some interviews or quotes from people on the island,” she mused, “they want a piece.”
“oh, of course.” her face is kind, her hands shifting to rest against the strap of her purse as she stops her quick pace to speak with the young woman. “ask me anything you like. i love this island.” if she didn’t, she wouldn’t very well be sitting on the council, helping to make the small town a better place. “i’m mallory shepherd,” she continues, doing her own small nod towards the pen and paper. “perhaps my opinion is biased, but i think it’s important to share nonetheless!”

the moment rory’s eyes settle on the girl, she finds herself entranced. enveloped by her own state of confusion & familiarity. thinking to herself, is it me, or does this chick look really familiar ? then briar speaks, and andromeda snaps out of her trance. she is quick to wipe the dumbfounded look off her face ( or at least she tries to, anyway ) and her stare soon darts away. ❛ uh ━━ thanks, ❜ she mutters, setting her stuff down at the place that’s been offered to her. ❛ i should’ve known better coming in here during this time. ❜
she hadn’t seen the other girl’s face before offering her the empty seat, and now uncertainty is beginning to pool in briar’s stomach. she knows her past life backwards and forwards --- she had two younger brothers, but that was it. and in this life, she’s an only child. so where did this girl come from, looking exactly like her.
she speaks before she even thinks. “this is totally freaky.” she doesn’t even bother to respond to the girl’s words, her mind racing too quickly as she tries in vain to remedy this situation in her mind. “...i’m not the only one thinks this is absolutely off the weirdness charts, right?”

“I appreciate that sort of looking out for people,” she sighs again slowly, but smiles back. “And not especially new, just out of practice, mostly.” At one point in her life-the one this stranger seems to be at now, Edith was pretty fine if these types of places. That felt like…a very long time ago, now. She stuck out her hand, looking for a handshake, albeit awkwardly. “I’m Edith, nice to meet you. Thanks for saving me the trouble of having to find somewhere else to go.”
“it’s no big,” she says, waving away the woman’s concern. it’s a phrase that feels so comfortable to her, so right coming out of her mouth, that she knows instantly that it’s something she used to say in that old life of hers. she’s been having feelings, memories, for three years now, and it’s still not something that she’s fully used to.
pausing for a moment to brush her hair from her eyes and recenter herself, briar allows a smile to settle upon her lips. “i’m briar.” she reached forward, her hand closing around the older woman’s. “wonderful to meet you.” she leans back in her chair, gaze flickering across edith. “i just figured if i had an empty chair, i might as well offer it.” her shoulders lift in a light shrug. “counts as my good deed for the day.”

Laci wasn’t the hugest fan of coffee. If anything she would rather not drink any of it. But for some reason she felt the urge to have it. And there was nothing wrong with that. Somehow though, she could not find any open seats, until the ginger pointed to the one next to her. “Oh! Thanks, I hope I don’t bother you or anything.”
“it’s no big,” she says, waving off the comment with a smile. she closes her textbooks, shifting everything to the side to accommodate her new companion. “it’s--- laci, right?” she recognizes the girl. they’re about the same age, and they’ve held a few simple, rather forgettable conversations before. perhaps this is the time to hold a conversation with some SUBSTANCE. “i’m briar.” she smiles politely. “my parents totally hated when i drank coffee, but i could never resist a caramel mocha. what did you order?”

“so you’ve been ?” matty asks, piqued by noah’s apparent familiarity with his home town. “i just needed a change of scenery—and for some reason the school offered me a chance to dip my toes into teaching,” he explains. its odd how it all worked out.. it didn’t quite add up. almost as if it was orchestrated by a director for entertainment. but he didn’t question it too much. “yeah, i’ve—” matty’s words are cut off as noah nearly topples over. trying to suppress his laughter causes something of a snort as air is pushed through his nostrils. “i’ve seen it once or twice.” he offers noah a look, as if asking if he’s okay without wanting to draw more attention to it.
“well---- no. but i’ve heard so many wonderful things.” he’d grown up reading, pouring over books fiction and non-fiction alike. he’d become familiar with surrey through his readings, and he likes to imagine himself a well-travelled man because of that --- even if he’s never really left the united states.
“ah, the joys of teaching.” his voice drips with light sarcasm. he does love to teach and impart knowledge ( he only wishes his students were anywhere near as enthusiastic about learning ). he’s still trying to remain cool, trying to pretend as though he didn’t nearly do a faceplant in the middle of a halloween shop. “only once or twice?” that hardly seems possible. jurassic park is a classic; a film that needs to be viewed AT LEAST a dozen times. noah purposefully ignores matty’s prying look, and continues. “i’ll be going as dr. grant, just like every year. i think it’ll really encourage the kids to consider paleontology an actual science.” which it was, thank you very much.

just when all hope seems lost, and aurelia is about ready to turn around and head home, a beacon of hope in the shape of a redhead spares her the embarrassment. her face, once riddled with nerves and anxieties, softens as she approaches briar’s table. ❝ are you sure ? you look rather busy—i’d hate to put you out. ❞
“it’s nothing, really,” she lies, pushing her textbooks to the side. growing up, her parents had taught her the importance of strong work ethics, but she had taught herself the importance of kindness. if only her parents could see her now, welcoming a stranger to sit while she ignored her homework --- her mother would have a conniption. “i can finish it later.” she reaches for her mug once more, hands curling comfortably around the warm ceramic. “really, have a seat.”

the atmosphere around aurelia seems to brighten as she’s complimented. ❝ thank you. ❞ her teeth snag her bottom lip as she somewhat conceals a smile—if only because she doesn’t want to appear too vain. her mother wouldn’t like that. aura holds out her hands, as if preparing to catch the unstable goodies if need be. when one nearly topples over, she decides not to wait. ❝ you can set them on the table while you look—you can even have a seat if you’d like. we can consider the company a down payment. ❞
an honest and genuine smile overtakes mallory’s face. a silent thank you passes from her to the younger woman as she sets her treats back upon the tabletop, her free hands now working furiously to find her loose change. “no, i wouldn’t want to impose upon your sales,” she says, brown eyes sill glued to her handbag. “i just need...” her voice trails off, a light sigh passing between parted red lips. “i suppose it’ll have to be credit.”

Work had been…absurdly long for Edith today, although she was never exactly surprised that that was the case. That being said, she had just needed a coffee and maybe something to go along with it, not this crowded mess of people. She weaved her way through the mess, just praying that there would be a seat left somewhere. “Oh, thank you so much,” she sighs, wincing just a little at the sound the chair makes when it rolls across the floor. “I was afraid there’d be none left.”
“i saw someone in distress, i couldn’t just watch you flounder,” briar replies, the corners of her pink lips turning up into a smile. she’s going to regret this later, surely, but her heart is too LARGE and her sense of purpose too strong to do anything other than allow the woman to sit down. “you must be new around here,” she continues, reaching once more for her coffee, her political science books pushed to the side for now. “the coffee lab always fills up before noon.”

“surrey,” matty answers, no discernible emotion attached to his words. he doesn’t feel any sense of sentiment towards the place he’s from. he chuckles, “definitely not. going all out for halloween appears to just be an american thing. are you planning on dressing up ?” he shrugs, pulling out a particularly strange costume he didn’t quite understand. “and why exactly would a grown man dress up up like a.. baby ?”
“oh, surrey,” noah replies, as if he’s intimately familiar with the place. ( he’s not ). “and, ah, what brought you all the way out here?” no one that he’d met thus far seemed to be born on the island --- the small town simply seemed to attract company. he smiles, then, at matt’s question. “have you ever seen a little movie called jurassic park?” he leans confidently against one of the clothing racks, the wheels sliding underneath the added weight and nearly causing noah to flip over backwards. somehow he manages to steady himself, attempting to play it off as cool. ( he’s not ). “now that question,” he glances towards the costume, “i can’t answer.”

it was rather cruel what they were holding up against benjamin, he couldn’t believe it was actually happening, but here he was an had to act completely normal. how could you act normal when everyone else was being lied to? a part of him hoped it was some sick joke from doctor doom or literally anyone who had the ability to warp reality, but then again he was a kid who got bit by a radio active spider at the age of fifteen. it all seemed to good to be true, but he still could not believe the mess he had gotten himself into. it all seemed unavoidable and even if he felt it coming, there was no way to tell what was coming. “so this island—-am i right?” how did you act normal again?
she hadn’t expected anyone to speak up to her, let alone the quiet and awkward guy that had been standing at the trolley stop since before she’d even arrived. briar looks up from her phone, one eyebrow raised ever so carefully. “uh, yeah?” she replies, unsure of where to go next. “you’re totally right.”
a brief pause, and then: “wait--- what about the island?”

❝ and your grand total is.. ❞ aurelia trails off, leaving a playful lapse of time in the balance before speaking again. ❝ one dollar & fifty cents. ❞ whoof. big bill. but that’s to be expected when you’re taking part in the fall bake sale. she offers up a friendly grin from her place behind table holding the hot chocolate, coffee, & other complementing goodies. ❝ will that be cash or credit ? ❞
“these look delicious.” her face is kind, her smile sincere. she’d been raised to support causes --- no matter how big or small --- and she could never quite say no to autumn treats. “cash, please.” she moves to balance the hot chocolate and assorted treats, while her left hand digs madly through her purse. “i have some change in here, i know it.” her face contorts lightly, the precarious stack threatening to fall at any moment.
