live laugh peg
ok we saw each other again and some things were so nice and some things felt like i was trying to find my way through a maze and bumping into walls
funny how much my brain churns during sex dude. or some of the sex some of the time. guess things got pushed into an intellectualized place, which, gotta look at that.
things that were nice: him on his knees, sitting on his face, the sounds he makes, and licking the sweat off his neck, fun delicious i would do that again and again
but there's that thing where you can tell that someone's demon is in the room, not in a weird scary way but in a like, oh he is working through something big right now, kind of way. ironically impenetrable. hard to get a read on the shape of it which if im going to top you, i kind of want to know about it. because i gotta know if i can furrow in deeper or if i'm dodging emotional landmines. where does his desire for submission originate? and why is there a darkness in it? tbh when i'm topping someone i want it to be a little silly, at least to know that we can go there. this wasn't silly at all, which, for a girl who reflexively laughs when she cums, is kind of foreign.
he came on his knees on my bedroom floor with a dick in his ass, which, what a showing. but then got so quiet and withdrawn, kind of like last time, a real bottom space thing. so i got him water and set him up as little spoon, and the next half hour was just me lightly tracing my fingertips over his whole body, in his hair, across his hips, while i modeled slow and deep breaths with my belly against his back. and in turn he sighed and cooed like a bird and his first words were "I can't tell you how nice it feels to be touched like this." But with a sadness. I don't know. He apologized for being in my bed too long receiving my touch, and I stopped him to affirm that it felt so good for me to do it. just like he apologized for the bruise on my thigh. just like he apologized for taking too long to finish - two more delights! two more things i had only enjoyed. where had he learned that so many wonderful things were a burden?
i'm getting tripped up here. i am such a sucker for male vulnerability, and i find all of this so compelling. and. when someone is going through It, whatever It is, there's a piece of it that is fundamentally not relational because how can it be? sex becomes a space for a person to work out their relationship to themselves - and that's fine but that veers into sex work feelings for me, or maybe more specifically the way that men have used having sex with me in the past as a way to visit a feeling of being free.
that piece is a poison arrow for me. i don't think he could possibly know or intend that but that's not the point. and it has the effect of driving more of my curiosity and the part of me that wants to fix and care and seek intimacy, which is a part of me i am trying to learn how to control.
ah he just texted to ask how i am. uhhhH!!!!!!

in all things, a natural correction
sometimes i gotta catch myself drinking directly from the dopamine hose and remember to breathe.
one of the side effects of being single and "back out there" has been this up and drop kind of mechanism where i am chasing ecstatic experience and the pit feels bottomless and i just want to feed it more and more. there is the rush of connection or power but the half life is brutally short.
i completely understand my body's wisdom in not doing any of this personal work before it was a requirement for my safety, because the layers of myself that i feel are more exposed now, are tender and old and raw. i threw all of that in the hopper a long time ago, covering it with busyness, hobbies, art, community, sex, and validation - a psychic landlord special, if you will, adding a protective shell that did a good enough job long enough until it didn't.
these days, among other things, i am finding myself jealous of people who have had a softer go of relationships, who had the good fortune and i don't know, more attuned parents, and have been able to build something for a long time with a person that feels safe to them. i am in touch with feelings of failure, more to feel and work through, i am choosing to tell myself.
so what a predicament to find myself in. horny like a teen, sad like a teen. feeling too late to something. feeling at times radioactive and at other times more attractive and more capable than i have ever been. a bewildering thing.
how humiliating that the work takes me back like this, to a place i never wanted to visit again. to look clearly at the pain and disappointment, and to wish for a life i have not had. my therapist and i are talking about the role of fantasy in my life. it's a skill that has brought me career success, a book deal, and has kept me alive. and i've told better stories about some of the people in my life than they have actually been, and that narrative adjustment has kept me longer in more pathological relationships. sustaining harm i try to write off or edit around.
so my god, what does it mean to live in reality? i think of the guy i just broke things off with after a few dates because he had created this idealized version of me, and could not focus or attune to me as i am. that was good of me, right? the boy on the other side of my strap, fantasy, not reality? even as a thigh bruise fades and the sheets are in the wash. the rock climber boy that i have insane sexual chemistry with but neither of us are particularly into one another - reality. that old client? fantasy.
i caught myself, is what i want to say, hoisting buckets out of the well of men, drinking too fast out of a fear of future dehydration. and when i caught myself i listened to music and read a book and went to the gym and worked on my manuscript, regulating and distracting with something less intense. because i know how to take care of myself as i am now. even though the old abyss is there, no matter how hard i worked to wipe it off the map. and so it's my job as the adult i am now to add it to the official topography, or fill it sustainably, or plant a hedge around it.
deciding to open myself again to the possibility of being loved is fucking terrifying.
Live, laugh, and of course, love.
someone described me as having the right shape to sit on a person's face and i didn't really get it until i saw this photo from dr. sketchy's a million years ago
