Why I Chose This Film: Twitter thread discussing the beauty of the film caught my eye. I realized I recognized the poster, but had never seen the film. Hadn’t watched an anime in a while.

The First Fifteen: Set in the not-so-distant future year 2019, the film feels a lot like the present. Echoing scenes of turmoil and friction taking place around the world today. Anti-government protests, corruption, domestic terroristic threats, it all feels like we should be testing Ohtomo for clairvoyant abilities.

Least Favorite Actor in the Film: Nozomu Sasaki (Tetsuo Shima) His voice just got on my nerves! No other reason.

Most Impactful Scene: Bosozoku bike chase - beautifully timed, colored, and scored.

I love looking out at the beauty world and my feeling my own insignificance. Images like this remind me of the fragility of the human existence. That mountain has been around long before you, and will undoubtedly outlive you.
