Combining Up ...
I'll make a lot of Art On A Wire pieces so you get more than one way to wear them. It's a great idea say, for when you travel and need versatility. Take these two longer necklaces as an example. One, a simple, longer gold chain. The other, a Chrysopraise gemstone with pearl drop, long necklace. Here, I've doubled both for that extra little something. A touch of formal to this otherwise casual, rumpled basic button down. Ever try this yourself? Want to shop it? Go to www.ArtOnAWire.com and ask if you have questions or request.

LEANING IN I think circumstances that find us at our most alone, while they may be pitch black dark, can be such a blessing. Is that an odd thing to find? Ok, possibly so. My point is, and I am thinking about my own experience from 2009, that once we lean into it, with no other direction in that moment to go, we find a wide open pathway to the internal. The eternal. It is the soul-battery we all possess. When my own world was darkest, void of all guiding light outwardly, and left me the one direction of inward to go, it was like someone lit a match in a coal mine. Minus the methane. When the illumination settled, I saw before me a gymnasium bench. Side by side, eyes down as if still hoping, however small, to be chosen by me on my playing team sat countless 'Me's; iterations of my own self at every age. Sadly sat the girl whose laugh was too bawdy for her schoolmates. Dejected the teen whose hand-me-down clothes were 2nd tier. Denied, yet so earnestly hoping to play, the independent spirit too unique to 'fit in'. I saw them all. So, so many. In my unruly blond-haired, California tomboy's quest for acceptance in a new, blue-blooded private school of a beautiful but conservative town, I had benched 80% of who I was. And seeing that, I cried like a baby. I wept from my toes. When my eyes finally dried and the heaving of my chest settled down, I cleared my throat and said to them, " I am sorry. You are all so beautiful to me and a sight for some seriously soar eyes. Thank you for granting me the love and patience I never in my immaturity granted back." Then, with deepest reverence I asked, " Will you please be on my team?" I thank God for the darkness now. Because when it comes I stop looking for the doorway out. Instead, I feel along the walls for the doorway in. Since that time and the resulting soul searching trip to Costa Rica where I sat alone in the jungle meditating and writing until my hands cramped I strive to a united front of all of me. The one who laughs way too loud sometimes, curses inappropriately, isn't 'as pretty/smart/clever/business savvy' as her piers and mentors or as her critic says she should be. I am conscious of when I am judging myself, comparing or saying anything less than kind. In that moment in the darkness I finally understood 'self love'. I don't always practice it. But I forgive myself for that too. Because, it is not about perfect. It is about perfectly me. I love you guys. Say something uncomfortably, but genuinely kind to yourself in the mirror today and listen for the critic. Then introduce her to the new you. God bless! Jenny
Featured Artist - TODD BRACKEN
ART ON A WIRE presents THE FEATURED ARTIST SERIES. We highlight and celebrate once each month an artisan, chosen across a number of crafts from world over that stretch or perception, inspire us and help move us forward out of our own way.
This month's Featured Artisan, TODD BRACKEN.
Whether it was the antique jewelry cases or the museum quality collection of Americana I knew the minute I walked into Todd Bracken's Venice loft I was some place very special. As Todd and I talked I also learned that Todd, unlike any other jeweler I know, pans for all of his own gold. Like waking through a time portal into mid-gold rush California Todd's studio is at once familiar, welcoming and fascinating. His cases are filled with the most exquisite, beautiful 22k gold jewelry I have ever laid eyes on, and you instantly understand not only by his collection but by the light of pride as he speaks of his work and his story-teller demeanor drawing you in - that this is a man in love with his craft. To the point that several times a year, Todd vanishes. For 1 or 2 week periods Todd goes off the grid disappearing into the rocky wilds of Northern California where you can find him among the rushing river streams and shoreline rocks panning for his own gold, which he uses exclusively to craft his signature line of California Gold jewelry. And while he does have an A-list clientele that reads like a who's who of cool Hollywood -- Eric Clapton, Goldie Hawn, Keith Emerson of Emerson Lake and Palmer and enumerable more, he charmingly enough is slow to show you that. He would rather show you the vintage glass vials holding his hand panned gold or the solid gold nuggets formed from his in-studio smelting. Todd is a truly inspired artisan. His jewelry pedigree could and has landed him commissions from the world's most exclusive jewelry houses and museums alike. But instead Todd chooses to work one on one with you. His richness of character, everywhere in his environment most brightly shines in how he loves what he does. And emphatically I find that very inspiring.
New Art On A Wire holiday...
Killing Buddha lunches, Honor & Plenty
Today's Mantra: I see plenty everywhere. I openly and gratefully accept my share. Yesterday's luncheon honoring Betsy Chasse, and raising funds for her newest film reminded me of the so much I learned from her first film, "What The Bleep Do We Know?" One idea that resonated so deeply and has been with me unfailingly every since is the principle of plentiful supply. There is more than enough to go around -- weather that be a creative idea, a concept, love, or energy to get a project done. We are so blessed to live in countries where the basics are readily available allowing us to concentrate on and nurture our spiritual and dynamic development. Creating this company as one soul being, starting it from a welfare check to having been blessed with so much acceptance and growth, I love knowing everything I have ever needed to create this for myself has been inside me. That that has been true for a long time and I didn't know is a little irritating, lol. But I finally figured it out. And I believe that same thing for each of you. You are amazing. You are dynamic. You are very, very blessed even in your challenges, for they are fantastic direction signs. ( Don't like what your are seeing, go another route, they say) I say this often in my posts, but it isn't hollow fodder. I really DO believe in each and everyone of you. I believe in your dreams. I believe you can and will do anything you set your sights on and your minds to. If I can make you look even lovelier in the process and give you a visible symbol to wear, be it around your arm, neck, your wrist or in your ears, than all the better! Art On a Wire might be about jewelry on the surface, but what it really is is a reminder Each piece that I hand hammer, wrap, solder and design is a ribbon on your finger reminding you of the undeniable truth that you are limitless, and as elegant, organically beautiful, strong and eye-catching as the piece you are wearing. Be Strong! Be Feminine! - They are one and the same. xx j. Aston

Could not sleep this morning. Thinking about all the work that is coming my way lately and how to best grow from that. Still noodling on it, but made these in the between time.
