Art Print Residence

Jordi Rosés and Ariadna Abadal operate a professional Printmaking Studio specializing in intaglio and other printmaking methods. As owner/operators of Murtra Edicions, they have worked with and printed for artists since 1991, creating plates and printing editions and special collections. They have taught courses locally and have been invited to teach in Europe and in northern Canada. They have published prints, artists’ portfolios and books for individual artists as well as publishers, museums, galleries and private companies. The Art Print Residence provides accommodation for printmakers and other visual artists, writers and poets while they research and create their work at the studio. The rural setting provides a quiet space for you to live and work. You'll have the freedom to create your own work or participate in a variety of courses and seminars. The living spaces, residency and studio are housed on three separate floors of Jordi and Claudia's lovely home. They are surrounded by a small garden, that hosts several special but shy turtle guests. The house is located in Arenys de Munt, approximately 30 minutes from Barcelona and 45 from Girona by road. Arenys de Mar, the adjoining seaside town, is within walking distance and where you can catch local transport to Barcelona. Art Print Residence offers the convenience of being close to the city with the peace and quiet of a rural setting.

Nina Vigilante Welcome to Art Print Residence! We are delighted to welcome Nina Vigilante from the United States to Art Print Residence for her residency this July 2026. Nina joins us from Denison University (Ohio), where she is developing her artistic practice. During her stay, she will work as a studio assistant, gaining hands-on experience in the daily life of a professional printmaking workshop while learning the traditional techniques of copper etching (intaglio) under the guidance of Jordi Rosés and Ariadna Abadal. This residency offers a unique opportunity to combine practical studio experience with technical training, artistic research, and creative exchange within our international printmaking community. Italian Artists' Residency from the Scuola di Grafica di Carrara}talian Artists' Residency from the Scuola di Grafica di Carrara This April, Art Print Residence had the pleasure of welcoming four talented Italian artists from the Scuola di Grafica d’Arte – Accademia di Belle Arti di Carrara: Andrea Spezia, Roberta Stevanin, Lara Lubrano, and Stephania Natolo. Coming from one of Italy's most respected institutions for contemporary printmaking education, the group joined us for an intensive residency dedicated to hard ground etching, expanding both their technical knowledge and artistic research. (accademiacarrara.it) Throughout the residency, the artists immersed themselves in every stage of the traditional intaglio process. Working with copper plates, they explored the expressive qualities of hard ground etching—from preparing and grounding the plates to drawing, biting, inking, and printing. The residency provided an environment where careful observation, experimentation, and craftsmanship became essential parts of the creative process. Under the guidance of Ariadna Abadal, participants refined their individual approaches while deepening their understanding of the technical and conceptual possibilities of etching. Daily discussions, practical demonstrations, and one-to-one mentoring encouraged each artist to push beyond familiar methods and develop new visual languages through printmaking. Starting from an idea by Art Print Residence, we brought together two worlds that have been deeply interconnected since ancient times: handmade paper and traditional Japanese mokuhanga woodblock printing.
