Thank you so much for the guide! <3 Sorry to ask for more, but could you do other guides too? Like on how to draw beards, and different styles of faces and bodies! I understand if you'd rather not, but it'd mean alot!
I’m not much of an expert, so you can say I’m still learning too!
Beards can be tricky sometimes because they can grow all over the place.
5 o’clocks and Scuffs start off as small strands of hair poking out. So as you draw them near the edge of the face they begin to overlap each other making a darker value. However, Trimmed and Fuller beards start to wrap around the entire jawline to indicate thickness.
-Note that all beards have different growing patterns and might not be as straight as the example below so I suggest you google various beard nationalities.
I think when drawing any kind of style face the shape is what makes your character look appealing. That being said, here’s a random few I came with. To me at least I prefer curvy shapes that give a sense of organic squishiness to the face instead of angular stiff ones.
-Try to look at your outlined shapes three-dimensionally and imagine invisible lines wrapping around them.
Assuming your question is still related to drawing bara, I’m using this same sketch below just to show you a small variation of body types that I think kinda fit the description.
Of course, this is not an ultimate guideline to drawing bara, this is simply my take on the subject. :)
I recommend reading Drawing faces & hands by Andrew Loomis where he covers drawing different shaped faces.
https://archive.org/stream/andrew-loomis-drawing-the-head-hands#page/n0/mode/2up
I hope this helps you a bit more!
How about tips on how to do body hair? I found your other tips really helpful so maybe you could assist me with a huge problem if mine haha
Of course, so when I draw body hair I like to think of waves flowing in directions. Hair growing patterns vary and may appear thicker or thinner in specific areas. Also keep in mind that hair strands can overlap more so towards the outlined edge of the skin.
-Here’s a small example of how I like to just draw the flow of hair on a male.
Anyway, I hope I didn’t confuse you with this. There’s not much more I can say other than looking at references online and really analyzing how hair growth works. Goodluck! :)
Showing some areas that you wouldn’t usually know I think
an answer to this one http://baradok.tumblr.com/post/148916013563/how-about-tips-on-how-to-do-body-hair-i-found
and about the back i have no idea about the back tbh… google it
This.
hey could you maybe not joke about transgender/non-binary people please?
Oh, just to pull back the curtain for a moment, Floor 1 of Antifa Tower was meant to satirize people who act the fool when they’re asked to use peoples’ preferred pronouns.
It’s such an easy and unimposing thing, and yet unfortunately there are people who raise a huge stink about it and turn it into a “freedom of speech” issue, and act like their rights are somehow being violated when they’re called an asshole for not respecting this basic preference.
The Enlightened Centrist is partially a parody of the Youtube/Twitter “skeptic/anti-SJW” community (members of which have been known to call themselves “centrist”), and how they see themselves, though I used him as a vehicle to parody other types of edgelords too.
I hope that most people understood this, but if you genuinely thought I was making a jape at the expense of transgender or non-binary people, sorry about the scare, love ya. <3 And lmk if you have any suggestions for how I can change that section to make the intent clearer.
Edit:
I ended up replacing this section with a section about brutalizing trash cans, because multiple NB/Trans people told me they were uncomfortable with it regardless.
do you ever just
“no that’s not dramatic and cheesy enough”
“getting warmer”
“t HERE IT IS”
i love this but i dont know how to do this
hoW
For those wondering about HOW to do this, here’s a short explanation according to me:
Drawing A to Drawing B: -the most obvious change is the exaggeration of the line of motion in the character.
In Drawing B the line of motion is much more pronounced, creating more drama and movement to the whole composition
-The arms are open wider, showing more confidence and exuberance in the character, exaggerating their emotions so they can be more clearly read without having to look to the face for emotional cues.
-the legs are wider apart, adding to the aforementioned confidence but also giving the character a solid foundation, visually speaking.
-The head is tilted back and overlapped by the chest, adding a touch of dynamic perspective to the drawing.
Drawing B to Drawing C: -Most obvious change is to zoom in on the character. Character framing is just as important as what the character is doing. Zooming in can help infensify emotions. this shot is ALL about this character and what they’re feeling. -Because of the zooming in, the arms/hands would have gotten lost, so instead of making the canvas wider, the artist has elected to rotate the character slightly, bringing a dynamic angle to things and more intensity to the close shot. -While the character is more upright in this shot compared to Drawing B, in Drawing C the chest still slightly overlaps the neck, preserving the feeling of being slightly below the character (putting them in a position of power relative to the viewer), which helps maintain confidence and power in the character. -the chest is exaggerated to carry the majority of the body’s line of action so even though you cannot see the legs, our brains are able to fill in the gap and envision that line of action. -The cropping/framing of the character allows for a more interesting composition/negative shapes created by the positive (character) on the negative (background), creating more visual interest as well as a circular motion to the composition through the arms, across the face to the negative space for the eyes to rest in before dropping to the hand in the background and back through the composition again.
DID YOU DISSECT MY DRAWING TO FIND OUT WHY IT WORKS?? I LOVE YOU. I LOVE YOU. THANK YOU SO MUCH
Moah tutorials i found
Hey all! During the two months, I freelanced some 2D Animation with the awesome french studio, Studio La Cachette. The thing that kept me sort of busy during my off times is now publicly online (and now I can bring it up!). It’s for the worlds 2016 event for the League of Legends tournament! It was my first time animating in a sort of Sakuga style of animation since I’m more used to a generic style of hand drawn animation. I had to look up the animation styles of Takeshi Koike and You Yoshinari (since that was the style they were aiming for), so it was a wonderful learning experience for me.
I wanna thank Ulysse for the great opportunity, and the wonderful team (Which was a blast to work with by the way). It was a lot of fun, and I’d love to work with these guys again!
Here be some of my roughs!
i get a lot of asks asking me how i choose colours / how i colour so i thought id make a post on the main ways i choose what colours to use - doesn’t really talk about how i physically colour though, sorry!!
keep in mind im not an expert this is just how i choose my own colours haha
This is something I need to work on as well, so it was good practice for me! I hope this helps some of you that also struggle with same-face-syndrome!
TLDR: Just look at Jim Flora’s artwork and study from that ;)
I’m running an Introductory Animation Workshop with creative arts students this Saturday (August 20, 2016) for The School of Creative Arts Open Day at Melbourne Polytechnic’s Prahran Campus. I’ve rotoscoped and broken down some of the greatest dance gifs to their basic poses and we’re going to collaboratively design characters then MAKE THEM DANCE!!
Come down, check out the campus and say HI!
I can’t wait to see the weird animated goofs that result from this workshop, I’ll post them in a couple of days so we can all be in awe of their hilarious spontaneity!
I need this.

i'm sorry if you mind my asking, but do you know any good tutorials/references for drawing chubby guys? I have a lot of problems with where the stomach and hips meet, especially with the butt in a 3/4 view. I want to draw more guys, but I'm a transman so all my distributions physically are female and I can't even use myself as a good vague ref for male figure studies. Again sorry for asking and anon, I'm just shy and you're really good at it, I thought you may know.
First of all, im really sorry for letting you wait so long and for taking so long to answer.
I usually forget to draw the butt because it tends to blend in into the hip in my style. But i can take a swing at it for you! (I’ll try to keep pronouns in mind, but if i forget any im sorry.)
First things first: Male anatomy tends to be a bit stockier when drawn chubby or big. Of course it defers on what you want to draw, but here’s something to keep in mind: the legs are pillars to support the butt. Meaning that if gravity pulls donw on the butt you get sort of a little nidge on the back end. Especially if you’re a lil bigger.
If you want to define the butt in a drawing without merging it with the leg there’s one simple thing to do.Add that third bump. Two bumps for leg and one extra for the butt. Trust me it works. I don’t draw it often, but when you need to draw a butt (everyone needs to) three bumps help a ton. If you want to highlight a ¾ angle, take note to the top right image. The leg is in front of the butt-bump. Meaning it’s gota butt, and it’s there, butt it’s in perspective and all that. (im sorry i can’t be more descriptive)
Mostly you should just experiment more with this. Use the three bumps. Think about attaching a butt on a pillar and you should be fine. If you have more questions, please message me off anon. I’d love to help <3
Sorry this took so long to make, I was just unsure of how to go about it. So I did what I always do when in doubt, I drew spy…His face is a bit too thin but eh. Anyhow, hope it helps!

I think that how light affects the skin depends on if it’s outdoor or indoor, the time of day, the intensity and proximity of the light source, and the hue of the light.
