Aruani Christmas Week: Day 7 - Together/Alone

Funny how life goes

They were together.

Armin and Annie, that is.

They met during sophomore year. They both went to the same coffee shop. Annie would never imagine being able to spend her life with someone. Armin would never imagine having the courage to spend his life with someone.

Funny how life goes.

They started dating after 4 months. They got along great, despite having small fights. They would always drink tea or coffee to make up. It was their sign of peace.

They got married 5 years later. For some, it was too early. For some, too late. But for them, it was just right.

They had a beautiful kid, Theo. She was their sunshine. They would spend their days going on walks with her, reading books to her and teaching her things about the ocean.

Many years passed since then. Many things happened. They are now grandparents. They travelled around the world ever since their daughter moved out. But most importantly…

Annie was diagnosed with cancer.

They both knew she didn’t have much time left. That’s why they bought a house near the sea. That’s where Annie could hear the waves. That’s where she left her final breath.

Armin was alone.
