wanted to try and do one of those forum-style creepy stories like Candle Cove but the entire time I kept thinking about how this just wouldn't work on a site like tumblr because it's just so normal to be like "yeah the demon in the basement got out :/ it's possessing my dog :/"
Now when I read a long online horror story I just think, with the same cadence as "this could've been an email"
This could've been a tumblr post.
"there's something watching me through my window"
And half the notes are "same bestie"
or even "sorry that was me #I was scuttling around my bad"

Okay fans of both please hear me out.
Witch Hat Atelier
and
The Great Library
If you like either of them, you'll probably enjoy the other. Witch Hat Atelier is a manga (now anime!) about a girl discovering the secret of magic and being taken in to learn to be a witch. Her fellow apprentices are three other girls, and they train under a young man and his (work) partner. Magic in this world is heavily restrained and controlled, with resistance to this growing and challenging the norm. The story reveals darker truths and explores the nuances of what is considered too much control and whether or not it's necessary.
The Great Library is a five-book series depicting a handful of teenagers learning to become librarians in a world where the Library of Alexandria still exists and became an authoritarian governing force that restricts and controls all information and written work. The students, under the watch of a young man and his (work...) partner, go through various trials while uncovering the deeper corruption within the Library and its hold on literature. There are forces revolting against it. The story goes over freedom of information and its value for the everyday person, and why it's so important.
I'm not saying they are identical or necessarily in conversation with one another. The restrictive government in TGL is a lot more clearly a bad thing than the one in WHA, and they both have good reasons for why each are depicted the way they are, but there are similar themes and overall vibes and tones that make me suggest reading the other if you like one of them. There are a lot of differences between these two works, and the cast of TGL is older than that of WHA (the main kids, at least). The vibe/tones aren't exactly the same, and WHA is ongoing so I can't say if it'll be as politically involved as TGL ends up. They aren't the same genre, basically.
But, I do think they're similar enough that you'd enjoy one if you like the other.

I feel kinship with the astronauts right now. We're basically the same when you think about it.

I'm not much of a roleplayer but I appreciate those who do because it looks fun. However, it is still very funny to me when people do in-character ask blogs for their favs because sometimes it'll be very normal
but other times I'm like sure, the Dark Lord of Evil has a tumblr blog. The Personification of Nothing is here to answer your questions. The Primordial Goddess of Life has a DNI.
Is anyone gonna talk about Dark Room Etiquette by Robin Roe.
Has anyone read Dark Room Etiquette.
Do I have to talk about it
because I will. Watch me.

hit with the "I just finished a good book and don't know what to do with myself now" sadness
"cringe culture is dead" until it's a fat queer person enjoying something. Then suddenly not only is cringe culture still alive, but there's a person you can hold up and go "look at how much this person cares about this bad show/movie/book/literally anything!"
Now you can make fun of a show or hobby by going "this is what X-enjoyers look like!" because someone having rainbow hair and pronouns likes it and they're the cringiest people of all, right? It's just so lame to find something interesting or fun once those people start liking it! You don't want to be one of them right?
Because I swear every time someone decides to make fun of fans of X, it's never a thin white man or woman that they hold up as the poster child of X. No, they find someone who's a furry, who's hairy, who has an unconventional hairstyle or wardrobe--especially if they aren't white. And it doesn't matter if that person is just one of many who loved X, who had an emotional reaction to a character dying or whatever. It doesn't matter how many other people liked X.
"You look like a fan of X" and then they show someone they decided is the epitome of "fans of X" and that person is always "different" in some way.
God forbid you're nonbinary and overweight and wear cat ears or whatever. Not only is the media/hobby you like cringe now, it's cringe because you specifically like it.
People who aren't cis, white, thin, neurotypical, etc. deserve to enjoy things and be treated like normal people without some asshole deciding to make them the mascot of cringe.
That moment when you're on a date with a catgirl and she excuses herself after every few bites to go several tables over to get a drink of water 🙄
your fandom post is mine now. I don’t watch that thang. OC tag be upon ye
writer who has complete control over their characters voice: I miss my characters :(
I don't get it how can America be so homophobic when it has four fathers???
