leave me your stardust. ( leo )
at her smile, his widens to an impossible degree, lips almost cracking with its intensity. he licks them, sucks them in for a beat before huffing out a genuine chuckle, elbow being extended outwards as if he were offering her a hook she could latch arm into. body bows slightly, nod given before it rights itself to its previous position. the mixed feelings of before seem to settle now, dregs falling to the bottom of his glass. he feels free, shackles of panic and fear of the unknown suddenly dropped, shattered. it makes lungs work easier, inhales and exhales less shaky, less damaged. since his arrival, this is the first time he’s felt whole.
‘ well then, to the kitchens! everyone knows me there, don’t worry. i’ll get you the good stuff just you wait and see, princess. you’re hunger woes will be forgotten! ‘ he gestures with his head, a short jerk in the direction of the door. the outside of this sanctum will no doubt harbour incessant stares, whispers and judgmental minds whirring to life at the sight of their newest addition. he steels himself, even as light radiates from his being, for a battle against the hoard. he will protect her from these vultures. he’ll make sure she’s treated right. going from one bad place to another isn’t exactly what the resistance stands for. ‘ after you? ‘
there is hesitation clear on her face, eyes wide as she stares at the door, then at leo, then back to the door. a sharp inhale, hands clenching at her sides and she creeps towards the door as though she’s expecting to be jumped any moment. it slides open for her, she’s back outside. the sun is warm but she feels like it blinds her, leaving her blinking in disorientation for a few moments. and she’s quick to follow after leo, keeping close, her eyes focusing on one of his hands, contemplating.
she reaches out, slowly, slips her hand into his palm and squeezes.
there are whispers, of course, from those they pass. a young woman, fresh out of the first order, looking as though she’s been starved and beaten but still alive, now walking among them as if nothing was wrong. they’re wary, of course they are. navi is a ticking time bomb. one wrong move could set her off and leave most of the camp destroyed and people dead.
the smell of food makes her nostrils twitch. stomach rumbles, but there’s also nausea. it got to the point on the starkiller base and the finalizer that she had only been fed enough to keep her alive. shakes, light-headedness, weak limbs be damned. perhaps they had been looking for more reason to punish her, knowing lack of sustenance would hinder her ability to fight and train. not only that, but sometimes they’d slip things into her food. she thinks this part is against kylo ren or the supreme leader’s orders, but she remembers multiple times eating a meal given to her and ending up seizing, practically choking on her own vomit. poison her food, it’ll be funny.
no wonder she’s paranoid to eat anything now. what if this resistance treats her the same? leo is kind enough, she feels an attachment already, but she can’t make final judgments yet.
