One of the things about when my disability got bad and I stopped being able to go out much was that it coincided eith the launch of metal glasses. Anyway being stuck at home 24/7 sucks but at least im barely living in a surveillance state
im a lifelong football fan but currently my favourite thing about it is how bringing it up around relatives completely derails them asking me questions about my health
There’s something so uniquely terrifying about memory issues. I feel like my self is slipping away from me.
Here’s the thing I feel like a lot of folks don’t get: I’m not trying to forget what you said. Honestly, I really tried not to. I can’t control what I do and don’t remember—forgetting things just happens. It’s annoying for you, I know, but for me it’s distressing as hell and when you make a big deal out of it rather than just reminding me you make me feel ashamed. I’ll remember that, at least.
It costs you nothing to be kind to people with memory problems. Please. It’s scary enough without people treating memory lapses as a personal failing.
Hey, reblog this version instead, please!
I got into all the Masters programmes I applied to. When I looked up advice for undergraduate with ME/CFS it told me not to try. But im not just graduating, ive got onto masters. And yh im doing it all housebound but im still doing it
I have given my degree everything over the last few years. It's everything to me, and while Im going to graduate against all odds it breaks my heart that I wont be able to attend graduation. I love my degree, I want to celebrate it. Anyway theres a certain irony in not being able to walk i guess
ive recently started reading classic literature and it makes the idea that mental illness is more common now so funny to me cause like thats just the whole romantic and gothic genres
while not financially achievable I wanna get every type of heart rate monitors and wear them all together to see how varied the results are
I cannot express the joy at opening my lego set in a flare and the very first thing to build being a character with a crutch
I desperately need to live in a flatter house
I dont know exactly why but im definately getting worse at dealing/coping with my symptoms
I keep ending up watching home renovation videos on my feed and to me as someone who cannot hold a plate its like watching extreme sports as I genuinly cannot fathom how the body just does that
cannot articulate enough how since they started using ai more on Google docs the suggestions arent just not helpful but often try to completely change the meaning of what I said or are just gramaticaly incorrect
Getting ads for any kind of pill or patch in the UK is so funny to me cause either it does not work and is just claiming to be a load of things its not or the ad is illegal cause you cannot advertise drugs here
very tempted to start documenting my experience doing my undergraduate dis and applying and then doing my masters while managing my health conditions. I'll probably make the videos anyway but I dont know whether this will be something that people would be interested in/ worth watching beyond my friends. anyway I'd probably do it on here if so cause I refuse to install tiktok
I've ordered a wheelchair and a power assist and is it going to take forever to arrive? almost certainly. am I extatic like it'll be here tomorrow cause it means im done trying chairs and the process has begun also yes
I think the best thing anyone has said to me as a disabled student who cannot have a regular uni experience was my first year lecturer who repeatedly emphasised that every decade of his life has been better than the last and for most people these shouldn't be the best years of your life. I think about this all the time when I feel like im barely scraping through with little social interaction as I study remotely, this doesnt have to be the good time.
