Six stars and the moon

It’s never happened before

Maybe one, maybe two

But never six stars and the moon

The city lights are so bright

They drown out the sky

But not tonight

Not just one or two

The greatest compliment I’ve ever received is one I’ve heard multiple times in the last 2 years “You look so happy” and they are right, I am. We are.

Take the time

To dance with her in the kitchen

To listen to her swoon over your forehead kisses

To lounge in each others arms

These are the moments that matter

Collect moments, not things

Listen to her as she sings

Hold her when she needs to cry

Be her strength

Be her safe place

Give her space to go to her yoga mat when she needs to move

And also, be close

She will need you

She always does

She always will

This time

We flew in and out of the airport together

The same one where we met the first time

The same one where we cried and you said “I’ll never say good bye to you again”

This time

We flew in and out together

From our home and back there together

Change -

Change is hard

Change is scary

And yet,

One cannot grow without it

Imagine two choices

One, stay where you are and suffocate

Two, take a leap and hope you don’t fall

One may not be better than the other

But guess what?

You’ll never know if you don’t leap

I remember who I wear it for

I remember who I bowed my head for this morning, as he put it on

When I’m scared

I remember who I’m coming home to

He snuggles me whilst I sleep

He hugs me each morning

He texts me all day

He holds my hand when I can’t find words

Life is hard

I can’t imagine doing it without him

Two years ago today

I decided I was worth more

I trusted I would find love

I knew my life was in Denver

If I didn’t know love , I could live with that

I just knew I had to leave

I fought

I cried

I raged

And I made it

Happy now

And beyond belief

I found my Sir

Not sure how the stars aligned

Ever so grateful that they did

I am yours

We made this house our home

I took my one way flight and moved away

It’s been hard

It’s been wonderful

I’m so grateful to see the woman I’ve become

It’s a life I never truly believed to achieve

You greeted me, after your move

We built our home meant for two

And it’s a life I’m so grateful to have built with you

Dear child

You don’t have to be perfect

Your hair can be messy

You can go a day without make up

You will find a man who loves you for who you are

More importantly, you will learn to love yourself for who you will become

You will suffer

You will fight

You will cry

You will thrive

You will live your dream

You will find your soulmate to live that dream with

You will make memories

You will influence your niece’s life in the best possible way

You will teach her to love herself

As you learn to love yourself

You’ve come so far
