I made a pocket-size sketchbook (that I called Spar) to make train doodling a little easier in 2018. Around this time I was working at 2 (and then 3) different places and balancing some other short term jobs in between on top of freelance. I would like to personally thank espresso for keeping me awake during these times. I needed a sketchbook that would be easy to take places and scribble in any chance I could, it’s really what held me together. Glad I can (kind of) sleep now. 😅

Two more spreads from my Tropi sketchbook. I drew part of the bottom spread  when I got one of my first editorial jobs for the Portland Mercury in 2017. I remember I sent some cold emails before heading to work in the morning and got a response while I was on the train!

The illo had a 24 hour turn around so I was scrambling to get sketches out before I got to work to keep up with the deadline. Busy times, heheh.

I drew the rest of the stuff on the train ride back home.
