Before I sit down for the evening to work on some art pieces, I had some things on my mind that I felt I would share. Earlier today I attended presidential candidate Bernie Sanders’ rally in my home town (ish) area of Evansville, IN. I’ve been a Bernie supporter from the start, but the more I read and attending a rally of his has brought something to my attention: we’re in trouble.
If you are conservative and easily offended, I would advise to stop reading here. Our country faces many threats right now, but at this point in time I feel that the greatest threat is from within our country in the form of our Republican presidential candidates. This is quite possibly the most important election in our nation’s history, and on our Republican side we have, in the lead mind you, a racist, sexist bigot whom has no bearings in politics what so ever. A reality TV show star is running for our President by spewing hatred, filth, and disrespect to everyone that isn’t a white male with money in his pocket. His disgusting equal, Ted Cruz, is a deranged, theocratical lunatic who wants to run the country in the name of his God and not what’s actually best for the people. In my (albeit very atheist) mind, that is unacceptable. We have an entire party refuting scientific facts, and Ted going as far as to say climate change is not a scientific one, but a religious affair. Get the hell out with that garbage. Both candidates also have a very 1800s way of thinking in terms of women having the right to their own bodies and trying to SHUT DOWN planned parenthood across the nation, which in turn shuts out many women from reasonable health care including birth control and STD screenings. Get the hell out with that, too.
We really only have one option to move our country forward at all, and that is Bernie Sanders. He is a man, whom unlike Hillary Clinton, has fought for the same things since he has held any political value. Do not be fooled by Hillary. She says what people want to hear to get the votes all while avoiding the big questions. She is a snake.
Hearing Bernie talk gives you a feeling of pride and you know he is genuine. Before you go out and vote, if you have yet to, please consider Sen. Sanders. Think of future generations, think of the planet, think of our women, think of yourselves. He is here for the working class, many of which fight against him. He is here for the people, plain and simple. Let’s make this happen, and have a country that we are even more proud to call our own that we are now. #Bernie2016
