Hi!! I’m Nao, the creator of Anemoiatale. It’s an AU about a head librarian of a library that’s filled with books, each filled with different AUs.
What is Anemoiatale’s story?
Anemoiatale is an AU that was made by a creator who had suddenly abandoned it, leaving behind a (seemingly) endless library, and a Sans. At first, he was only reading the few books that were left in that library by its creator, which were all other different AUs that the same creator had written, and abandoned.
He had finished those books a long time ago, rereading them countless times over and over until… something happened.
Suddenly, the once empty shelves of his library were starting to be filled with books upon books, all filled with stories from other AUs, from all types of people. But at this point, Sans hadn’t found a purpose in his life, so he viewed this universe and his life here in a pretty nihilistic way.
That was until one day, Ink and Core!Frisk found him. They gave him a new purpose, which was to continue looking after those books— which now serves as an archive of all the different AUs that exist, along with its characters and timelines. Overtime, Sans, who now adopted the name ‘Anemoia’ (Nems for short), fell in love with these stories. He vowed to protect them with his life, especially after his universe was suddenly breached by bad actors that took advantage of his universe’s unstable state.
Nems is a Sans that has a taller and stronger stature, as he has higher stats than what Sanses (at least the ones that are closest to the original) usually have. Power wise, he has much of the same capabilities and powers as normal Sanses. His strength lies in his knowledge, as you can expect him to already know much of the opponent from all those pages he’d read. Of course this comes with a weakness, as there’s no guarantee that the opponent is in his library’s books in the first place. In that case, he’d have to rely on his deductions and instincts.
Basically, Nems is more of an informant than a fighter. But because people sometimes barge into his library with bad intentions, you can bet that he can still put up a pretty good fight.
Another ability of his is his reading speed. He’s an incredibly fast reader, and he also memorizes things quickly and remembers quite well.
Personality-wise, he’s well mannered and poised. He talks, but he never talks about himself unless it’s needed to, and he does have the same humor as other regular Sanses. Also, he can be pretty socially awkward at times, especially under circumstances where he’s surrounded by extroverts…
He has pride in being a head librarian of his own universe, and he also owns a small library in the Omega Timeline that has books he finds interesting, from all the different AUs he visits.
How does the library work?
Books come in and go as more AUs are created and discarded. Every book is filled with information about these AUs, like its characters, timelines, etc. The books also serve as a type of “gateway” for Nems, that lets him teleport to those AUs (he can’t teleport himself to other AUs on his own, it has to be with the books).
These books aren’t perfect however, as sometimes a page can be corrupted and that makes it unintelligible. This is where Nems comes in. To fix this, he has to visit that timeline in that AU, and handwrite the page in order to restore it.
Also, as explained before in the askblog, most people can’t come into the library without Nems and the Anemoiatale book (yes, even Anemoiatale has its own book). So if you’re normal and you wanna visit the library, you gotta get Nems’ permission first. It’s also pretty hard to sneak in, as Nems can sense anyone and anything that comes into the library, along with where it is.
Can other people use these books to read and teleport with it?
Yes. But of course this can be incredibly dangerous when it falls into a bad person’s hands, so Nems doesn’t allow anyone except a certain few to even touch the books in the library. This is also why Ink and Core!Frisk find the library to be an extremely vital place and tool for the longevity of the multiverse (Which in turn puts a lot of pressure on Nems sometimes).
Nems is a pretty chill (yet very overworked) guy that loves AUs and stories in general, which is why he takes his job very seriously, almost like that’s his only purpose…
Now then, here’s some funfacts about Nems and his library!
- Nems loves mystery novels.
- The library does not have any other rooms, nor does Anemoiatale have any other characters. So it can be a pretty lonely place to be in.
- Nems is a good listener, so he often finds himself comforting and giving advice to others.
