Hello. I am Dyrland- or Signe Eriksdóttir if you prefer. America said I needed to ‘open up more’ and suggested creating a blog on this site.

As for my interests, hiking, archery, and crocheting are some of them.

You likely don’t know me, and that is fine. I will do my best to answer your questions.

General background: Dyrland, an island southeast of Greenland, was originally settled by Danish and Norwegian vikings. The subsequent attempts by France and Britain to take the land from Denmark as a colony were rather brutally thwarted by both Dyrlandic residents and Danish reinforcements.

In the early 1800s, a poor harvest season resulted in a devastating famine. Due to the strain on already limited resources caused by Danish and Norwegian forces that had stayed, Signe had thought it best to declare independence.

Her revolution, short but brutal, put a strain on her relationship with Norway and Denmark, a burned bridge yet to be restored.

After declaring independence, Dyrland was isolated, only accepting technology and trade from America starting in 1874 and since then has been more open.

Fun(?) fact: Denmark’s genes only really appear when Signe is feeling especially agitated. Signe tries to keep her hair under control, but the tufts start popping up more the angrier she gets. Her hair used to be a bit more all over the place when she was a child nation.

Origins of the country name: I did a bit of digging and found what was pretty much an old Norse dictionary. I’m unsure if ‘dyr’ (beast) refers to animals/creatures or not, but at this point I can’t change it. There are two possible arguments:

Dyrland got its name so people would avoid going there (Iceland vs Greenland sort of situation)

Someone horribly misidentified local wildlife and it stuck.

Regarding her abilities: Despite being able to somewhat heal others, Signe cannot heal herself. Portal travel takes a toll, and she can typically only do so twice per day.

I highly suggest not joining any Hetalia discord servers you see posted OCSN. The glimpses I’ve seen showed behavior that is deplorable at best.

I have since left the Hetalia side of OCSN entirely because the behavior in those aforementioned discord servers has resulted in at least one person deleting their account.

In my other fandom on OCSN, I’ve only seen people be told off for sexualizing minors in a post via IC remark (most of the characters in the source work are minors) and hatred for an OC for no reason + xenophobic to the OC’s admin.

REMEMBER: Stop and think before commenting to the OP. AND: some things should be settled PRIVATELY if it is a personal issue.
