Kagame takes the role of the protagonist in Legends Arceus. She's from Kalos, her dad is Johtoian whilst her mother is Kalosian. She was in the middle of her journey through Kalos when she was thrown into the past by Arceus, as such she had her starter Braxian and her Tyrunt with her at the time.
AZ just so happens to be wandering Hisui at this point in time, this is where he meets his direct descendant Kagame. He is able to recognise her because of the heirloom she is wearing, the scarf and Eternal Flower broach.
This heirloom was made by AZ's son, it is to be passed down to the oldest child of the family every generation, it is a reminder of what AZ did all those centuries ago and to never make such a terrible mistake again. However that reminder has been forgotten with time...
AZ ends up feeling the need to look after Kagame, something he regretted never doing for his own son. As such he sort of become's Kagame's travelling companion and guardian. Ensuring that she doesn't get herself killed on her Survey corps missions.
Kagame looks more like her mother but is more like her dad in personality. She definitely has traits of her mother but is more laid back and not so high strung. Her mother has expections, she's made Kagame learn everything she deemed important and probably hopes that she'll be a researcher like her.
Kagame is the way she is, because of her mother's heavy expectations. She spent her first 10 years being home schooled by her mother, never really getting to act like a kid. So now Kagame is making up for all the strict rules, by completely ignoring them and doing her own thing.
Her dad was the one that convinced her mother to let her go on a journey. Her mother loves Kagame but because of her own tough upbringing she finds it hard to just be a normal mother. Her teaching Kagame and all the rules were her way of showing she loves her. But of course it just doesn't come off that way.
Sycamore being the younger sibling got off easy compared to her.
Kaito on the other hand is a cheerful, enthusiastic fellow who loves food and nerds out over old bones and shit.
He’s probably the only person that can make Anaïs smile and make her relax.
His lack of total awareness made it easy for him to just make friends with her when they were young, he wasn’t put off or scared of her like everyone else.
He’s the soft parent, letting Kagame off the hook and sometimes standing up for her when Anaïs won’t see reason.
Also he’s the one that takes care of Karly, Kagame's 2 year old sister. He takes his toddler on digging expeditions.
Anaïs is in her lab a lot so she’s not really available. I’m sure that Karly has been digging holes before she could walk.
