Ara basic timeline because. i’m putting off a task that will take me 3 minutes

10 years old — moves to Hoenn from Johto with her family, goes through the events of Pokémon Alpha Sapphire and the Delta Episode over the course of like. a summer. her original team is Blaziken, Gardevoir, Latias, Azumarill, Tropius, and Banette (loosely based on my original AS team)

10-16 years old — LONG INTERMISSION where nothing especially noteworthy happens. champion duties, schooling, picking up extracurriculars, contest spectaculars, etc

16 years old — feels burnt out but refuses to take any breaks from anything. Arceus kidnaps her in her sleep and sends her back to Hisui with amnesia

16-17 years old — goes through the main story events of Pokemon Legends Arceus over the course of about a year. her team is Decidueye, Gallade, Garchomp, Walrein, Alpha Ninetails, and Dusknoir. it’s meant to purposefully echo her Hoenn team + ninetails because. uh i don’t remember

17-18 years old — goes through the Volo epilogue and finishes up catching the rest of Hisui’s pokémon and completing the Pokédex. Arceus says her work is done and sends her + Ingo back to the present day in Sinnoh. Ingo regains his memories upon returning, Ara does not.

18 years old — stays with Ingo and Emmet in Unova for a few months until Aarune (the secret bases guy) comes to Unova to reunite with Ingo (i have a headcanon that he’s Ingo and Emmet’s younger sibling). Aarune recognizes Ara, lets her know where she’s from and that everyone is looking for her still, and they organize her return to Hoenn. she STILL has amnesia btw

18-20 years old — very long, angsty, readjust to modern life, recover from amnesia, and reunite with family and friends period. formally (keyword) abdicates her position as Champion and Wally takes over as champion because I think he deserves it 👍 not sure if i want to keep it but i used to have a half-finished idea where Ara seeks out Jirachi to wish for her memories back and the infamous Inexplicably In The Future Volo appears and tries to convince her to wish herself back to Hisui instead for his Nefarious Plans. either way, Ara eventually decides that she wants to become a Pokémon researcher instead of a professional battler after enjoying it so much in Hisui

20+ — ultimately ends up feeling both smothered and out of place in Hoenn. makes the decision to enroll in Uva Academy in Paldea (because i’m incapable of not stringing together my pokemon ocs across the games I played) to get whatever degree for pokemon research. now she’s not unlucky enough to go through the events of Pokemon Violet as well (that honor goes to my oc Esme), but she is there during it. her team at this point is mostly her original Hoenn team, with the exception of Decidueye replacing Tropius because Tropius was a very old man and ready to retire. tropius being the oldest of her pokemon was actually og lore before i even decided she was going to Hisui and the replacement grass type just happened to be a very nice coincidence

huh looking back i didn’t realize how much of her actual plot is concentrated in the post-hisui half. but it’s mostly because everything else can be more or less waved away with the “events of the game”. i mean there’s a lot of details and short fic ideas in my head that don’t get mentioned

anyway fun fact is that the original Ara i designed was the 16-year-old Ara who was intended to be a “cool older sister” type character for my USUM and SWSH ocs at the time. she was actually the last pokemon oc of the originals that I made, because i didn’t have a preexisting character that I played as (my original sun save was Queenie and my original sword save was Fayette, so i had a character to build from) but my original AS save was just myself. none of this actually survived to become modern lore for her, but 16-year-old Ara in her Hoenn design (not survey corps uniform) is still my default Ara and i love her lots
