I honestly really like the idea of Diana tragically killing Leona in their final fight. I'm not against killing characters off, and canon Leona has certainly commited a lot of crimes with the Solari's ruthless pursual of the Lunari.

I don't think Diana can forgive Leona for what she has done. Diana probably mourns the person Leona once was. I like the idea of Leona going out in a tragic way in Targon's storyline. Maybe even in a final moment of regret and self-sacrifice in some important battle (maybe against the void and not a 1 v 1 against Diana) to atone for all she has done.
