Apprehension was apparent on Ebony’s face, and was that a tinge of fear in her voice? Typically, most avoided and made it their mission to evade her due to her “unique” appearance. For somepony to be actively seeking her out was not only bizarre, but suspicious.
Just what was this stranger’s intentions?
To her surprise, he smiled, and gently expressed his interest in her story. It had been so long since anypony, aside from Gil, had shown her such kindness.
“A mare such as yourself must surely have a great tale to tell.”
A sigh left her lips, uncertainty shone in her eyes. Yet, there was a glimmer of something else within them. Hope.
There was finally somepony willing to listen to HER. (Which was ironic given that the curse had taken away her voice.)
“Alright.” She paused for a moment to contemplate as to where she could speak to the storyteller without interruption. Knowing the townsfolk, it was likely they would try to interfere. Her ears suddenly perked up. “Mr. Relic, if you are certain that you would like to listen, please follow me.”
She turned her back to his towering figure and cautiously led him towards a small cottage that overlooked the sea. It was glaringly obvious it had seen better days. Though, the old-fashioned charm it held made up for its semi-haggard appearance. Flowers and greenery were prominently scattered around it.
The door whined as Ebony pressed against it and she waved the alicorn towards a chair. “Please have a seat, and make yourself at home. My story is quite the lengthy one.”
The unicorn reluctantly took a seat, her shoulders tensing as her eyes met with her guest’s. Her hooves rubbed against one another as she shyly smiled at Tay. “This is a tale of love, jealousy, and betrayal.” She softly chuckled, “And it all started with a song...”
