Deleted my Instagram account yesterday, but it’s not about their removal of my humble drawing. It’s about the broader implications of their “community standards.” Paintings, drawings, photographs, etc., of naked human beings — made by human beings, for human beings — are not perverse marginal productions in art. They are central to the entire project. Art is either a diverse and unflinching exploration of what it is and what it means to be human, or it is nothing. Instagram, by blocking any and all depictions of nudity or sexual activity, has shown that it is actively hostile to art. So fuck off, Instagram.
It’s been a while, but here’s another in a series of female fighters drawn by me without reference in Procreate.
