✧ What is Gemsona Week?

Welcome to Gemsona Week! Gemweek is a fandom appreciation week for the Cartoon Network animated series created by Rebecca Sugar, Steven Universe. “Gemsona” is a portmanteau of “crystal gem” and “persona”, meaning, create your own gem characters! There are daily prompts throughout the week and the gemsona community is encouraged to interact, roleplay and create! So go make or update your gemsona! Get drawing and writing, browse and post in the tags (#gemsona & #gemsona week), join the OoA Gemsona forum, and maybe make some new friends this year! Don’t forget to submit your gemsonas to the 2016 Hall of Gems before the week ends!

Prom Night! : What is your gem wearing to prom? Do they have a date or going stag? (Sign up with your friends to participate in forum roleplay events!)

March Madness (Sat/Sun): Surprise “quick fusion” prompts all weekend! Meet with people on the forum & gemsona chat to find partners, or design fusions of your own gemsonas. Try to post at least one fully designed fusion before the weekend ends!

Someone Entirely New : When your gemsona fuses with other gems, they become “someone entirely new”- an experience that they’ll never forget. What is your gem’s most memorable and/or cherished fusion? How did their personality mix and mesh with their partner’s?

The 2016 Hall of Gems is a collection of gemsonas active during this year’s Gemsona Week! Submit one or all of your gems (even alternate universe versions!) to the Gemsona Archive and leave your mark. The Hall of Gems will OPEN submissions on Tuesday, March 22nd and CLOSE submissions Monday, March 28th. Find out more and review the minor requirements on the Gemsona Archive!

Gemsona Yearbook : Did something funny or interesting happen during gemweek? Did your gem make a new friend or have an embarassing moment at prom? Memorialize fun roleplays, ideas or moments from tumblr and the forum and post them under the tag “#gw yearbook”! Make sure it’s in the first five tags of your post. (Bonus points for gemsonas making “Senior Quotes”.)

♥ I can’t believe we’re already on our third gemsona week!! Last year’s events were incredible, like the crewniverse bringing us Gusite, our Archive’s official V.I.G. (Very Important Gemsona). Every year the gemsona fandom resurfaces and forms such a fun community, the week always passes by way too fast! Y'all always make the Steven Crewniverse proud… Time to do it again, so calibrate your tablet and @ your art friends. Hackmantite and Rubellite are the only ones with any sort of talent for machines. Dio will end up trying to take it apart and Emerald will break it trying to get rid of any “viruses”

Dioptase and Amber are two of the most inquisitive, adventurous gems you could meet. Occasionally Strawberry will get dragged along against his will because he’s too shy and gentle to say no.

All of them are actually pretty active! It’s hard not to be when you’re a bunch of fugitives stranded on a planet full of monsters

Dioptase is honestly so fascinated and enamored by Earth’s organic nature that she would love any place you put her. However, there is a special place in her heart for cool, wooded areas with lots of wild flora.
