[ He walks into the kitchen, setting the groceries down onto the counter and slowly beginning to unpack.]

[He gently untangles himself from Atsushi’s hands around his waist.]

But Dazai-san is Dazai-san. Who knows what he is aware of?

[He loops his arms around the back of Ryuu’s neck and smiles before a thought passes through his head and makes him frown slightly]

Do you ever get the feeling Dazai-san knows... everything?

[He offers Atsushi a faint smile.]

It was much worse when I worked under him, of course. He would just make odd comments that were clearly targeted towards me.

[Throughout this conversation, he’s been quietly making the apple pie, now creasing the edges of the dough over the pan.]

He does not do that to me anymore though, but I still find it jarring looking back on it.

[Atsushi growls quietly at the mention of how Dazai had used to treat Akutagawa. He places his hands gently over the other’s]

I’m glad that’s in the past and I’m gonna make damn sure it stays there. No one’s ever going to treat you like that again as long as I get a say in it.

[Almost feeling choked up, Akutagawa manages to sputter out a—] Thank you...

But I don’t think Dazai-san would ever do that to me again. Especially not with you here..

[A small laugh bubbles out of Akutagawa’s throat as Atsushi fails to answer the same question he asked him. He gently taps one of his flour-coated hands on Atsushi’s nose, smiling at the mark it makes.]

[He takes the brown sugar with a deadpan look, mixed with well-hidden fondness. Taking a small measuring spoon, he begins to carefully scoop the sugar into the mixture, clearly concentrating.]

Hey... dare me to eat cinnamon?

[Akutagawa isn’t really paying attention which is the only reason he agrees to this.]

[Predictably, he immediately leans over the sink and spits out as much of the spice as he can. He fumbles with the faucet, coughing and wheezing, before shoving his face under the water]

[Akutagawa turns away from his pie making to rush over to his boyfriend. His hands gently move up Atsushi’s back, gently making sure that he is alright and helping him through the process of hacking up the cinnamon.]

[Once it’s over, Akutagawa puts on his sternest face.]
