yo, I picked up this game on Wii U for fifteen bucks and I want to know how to BREAK IT. Like, absolutely annihilate it. I want to go into hard mode, fight god, and hardly break a sweat: the problem? I have never played persona before. Any advice for a newbie who loves chaos?
Hello there! I haven’t actually posted on this blog for… god knows how long, but thank you for reminding me it existed! You wanna know how to break the game? This is where to start.
Doing this OOC because my roleplaying skills are pretty rusty, so…
Your best friends are going to be Touma, Ellie, and Mamori. Touma’s your best buffer/debuffer, Mamori’s your tanky healer, and Ellie is by FAR your best attacker.
Train your units pretty evenly! You don’t want to need Tsubasa in the endgame and then get your shit rocked because she’s underleveled.
The moment you see the skill “Open Audition” come up, grind stage rank and performa until you can get it on everyone that it’s possible to get on at the moment. It is by far the most important skill in the game.
If you want to grind Stage Rank, go to Daitama, find an enemy, and spam buffs/debuffs until you’re out of EP and then rush them down.
Also, definitely do all the side quests and side stories! They help you massively.
If Maiko asks to talk to you, run over there as fast as humanly possible. Especially if she starts talking about two of your party members. Just trust me.
Find the Urahara Arena as soon as Harajuku opens. You need access to Nieg. Trade him every bit of Detritus you can. I can’t say why without spoilers, just do it.
Also, the incenses that Nieg gives you are extremely useful if you want to overload characters’ stats. I usually just get about 20 million Skill incenses and put them on Ellie. She uses them best, but skill may (we’re still not sure not enough people are nerds about this game) increase rates of certain things activating.
Strike a Pose and Gaia’s Whisper are two extremely good skills. Strike a Pose gives everyone a second turn and Gaia’s Whisper is a powerful Omni buff. Use them liberally against bosses.
Be EXTREMELY nice to Tsubasa. EXTREMELY. Follow a guide if you want. A special attack of Tsubasa’s is only unlocked if you have high enough affinity with her by the end of her third side story. Look up “Falling Star Tokyo Mirage Sessions” if you want to be sure not to miss it. There’s no way to check affinity and the game does not tell you about this.
Make sure you’re always picking the attack that leads to the longest session, even if it’ll do lower raw damage. Longer sessions are always the most preferable.
