@ask-whitespear
Hug.
i dont know what a mote is but it sounds like something like this
I’ll take riots and property damage over another dead Black person.
We need to value people over property!
Destroying property and violent rioting will not help protect black people. Burning up a Target will not help protect black people. Destroying the lives of minority bussiness owners will not help protect black people.
Champion real change. Don’t support people who use a dead black person (George Floyd in this case) as a way to produce their own brutality.
Shut the fuck up with your white privileged ass
Anyway none of this shit is helping black people or honoring George Floyd.
Great! Tell us what you’re doing! I’d love to hear solutions.
There isn’t a perfect solution to this but I would argue spreading awareness to what happened to George Floyd, demanding that the officers involved all face charges, and expressing a need for police reform (a few things I’m doing personally) is a lot better than breaking into a fucking Gucci store, beating the shit out of spectators, and destroying someone’s small business. All the violence and destruction does is take attention away from George Floyd’s story. 🤷♀️ I would love to go out to peaceful protest too but I’m worried for my own safety at this point with the fucking psychos you support running around are causing physical violence.
Ok let’s not talk over black people in this situation. This is about them, not us white or white passing people. Don’t tell them how to protest, or how to grieve, or how to deal with anger, or what they should and shouldn’t be doing. You’re white. I’m white passing. We could never hope to understand. Let them speak.
Oh so like his actual black family asking for people to stop doing this shit? Those black people? Because at the end of the day, this is about George Floyd and his family, who DO NOT SUPPORT THIS. I stand by George and his family. Fuck all the idiots damaging his memory and doing nothing to help the problem, only making it worse.
I’m white as shit and I will forever speak out against people ruining black/nonwhite owned businesses, ruining black/nonwhite communities, and continuing a black family’s suffering. Period.
Wow. See how nothing is said about stopping the murder of Black people by police.
Police killing innocent black people is fucking terrible and we need police reform. Obviously. Fucking OBVIOUSLY. The argument I responded to was not “How do we stop racism” it was “You’re white so you shouldn’t speak about this specific situation” so I spoke regarding it. Stop fucking strawmaning.
In regards to you being White and not speaking up about this, I would agree. Please dont. The riots/protests you disagree with is doing a disservice to the people who are rightly angry. You are not being an ally, and I would recommend doing more research on that. And listening to Black voices. I think Lonnie Bunch III (and Frederick Douglas), someone I read a lot about in my studies and who is the current Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution, says:
“Although it will be a monumental task, the past is replete with examples of ordinary people working together to overcome seemingly insurmountable challenges. History is a guide to a better future and demonstrates that we can become a better society—but only if we collectively demand it from each other and from the institutions responsible for administering justice.
Frederick Douglass famously said, “Those who profess to favor freedom and yet depreciate agitation, are people who want crops without ploughing the ground….The struggle may be a moral one, or it may be a physical one, or it may be both. But it must be a struggle.” At this pivotal moment when the eyes of the nation and the world are upon Minneapolis, will we join the struggle to seek justice and equality? Will we heed the call of courageous figures throughout history who spoke out against slavery, marched on for voting rights, and sat in for basic equality? Will we challenge the nation to live up to its founding ideals? In the memory of those taken from us and for the good of the country, I hope that we do.”
MLK said about protests:
“It is true that the police have exercised a degree of discipline in handling the demonstrators. In this sense they have conducted themselves rather “nonviolently” in public. But for what purpose? To preserve the evil system of segregation. Over the past few years I have consistently preached that nonviolence demands that the means we use must be as pure as the ends we seek. I have tried to make clear that it is wrong to use immoral means to attain moral ends. But now I must affirm that it is just as wrong, or perhaps even more so, to use moral means to preserve immoral ends. Perhaps Mr. Connor and his policemen have been rather nonviolent in public, as was Chief Pritchett in Albany, Georgia, but they have used the moral means of nonviolence to maintain the immoral end of racial injustice. As T. S. Eliot has said: “The last temptation is the greatest treason: To do the right deed for the wrong reason.”
So I want to emphasize, the immoral means line. First, peaceful protests are preferred, yes. Absolutely. But when a marginalized community goes up against a militarized hostile force (which the police are) it isnt always peaceful. And we cannot always use MORAL tactics in order to bring an end to IMMORAL systems. No revolution has ever been won that way. To be against that means you lack a basic understanding of how violent the system has been. Which is something someone who is white might not truly understand unless you’ve been there. THAT is why I as a POC say that sometimes white people should not speak on certain issues. Because you lack a core level of understanding, through your environment. But you can change this by listening, studying, and trying to understand the root causes of why these IMMORAL acts are happening against an IMMORAL system.
You say fighting fire with fire is bad, but not always. Again using MORAL tactics does not always win. Neither do IMMORAL ones. We must consider whatever tactics might work - be they MORAL or IMMORAL. Either way, it is going to be a STRUGGLE. Slaves did not simply ask to be freed. The LGBTQ community did not simply ask to be treated equally. Sometimes you have to get our voice heard and sadly it sometimes takes social unrest to get that done. To attack the very systems (aka capitalism) that created/keeps these issues in the first place.
You said earlier you dont even want to attend the protests bc of violence. However, that made it clear to me that you do not have an understanding of what it means to be POC at a protest. Because the threat of violence will always be there for us more than you. And like I said the majority of protests are peaceful but the police are not peaceful. A MORAL group going up against and IMMORAL group does not always end well.
Businesses might be hurt but they can rebuild. And have said so, the CEO of Target has said he proritizes people over his buildings. Gandhi Mahal put this best:
“Suddenly: realization. It becomes clearer to me than ever that the issue at hand is greater than Gandhi Mahal. We can rebuild a building, but we will never reclaim the life George Floyd didn’t get to live. For years, protesters tried peace. It didn’t work. If this is what it takes to get justice, then it will have been worth it.”
At the end of the day you are condeming the way people are reacting to years and years of oppression. A gucci bag is replaceble but not a human life. Also these stores have insurance! Most people dont even have that due to the pandemic. And instead of condeming the system for getting people here in the first place, you lay the blame on the same POC that you claim you want to support. Its like blaming the victim of rape rather than the rapist. Finally, in response to you saying we need to listen to George Floyd’s family, here is Tamika Mallory:
“We are in a state of emergency… The reason why buildings are burning is not just for our brother, George Floyd. They’re burning down because people here in Minnesota are saying to people in New York, to people in California, to people in Memphis, to people all across this nation: Enough is enough… I don’t give a damn if they burn down Target because Target should be on the streets with us, calling for the justice that our people deserve. Where was AutoZone at the time when Philando Castile was shot in a car?”
And I too do not like the violence, but I know that I cannot blame the violence completely on people. I cant blame people for being angry right now. I can only blame the systems that got them there. And yes we want racism to end but using the same methods the status quo wants us to use may not work (remember Kap? Look what happened to him).
And I dont know if it’ll work! Although history has shown differently, but times are different so only time will tell. But I think thats the scary part in all this - we DONT KNOW. Times are scary and people react either online or IRL.
I sadly do not think you will understand this, although I hope you approach this with an open mind and listen to POC and Black voices.
Anyways the end!
That’s a nice big post with lots of paragraphs to justify shit like this
You wanna talk about human life? Fine let’s talk about human life.
You can spin it anyway you want, it is still absolutely terrible violence and anyone doing this is absolutely garbage. Anyone doing this doesn’t truly care about changing anything. Anyone doing this doesn’t care about George Floyd. Ruining your community and destroying the lives the people around you, people and things completely unrelated to the true evil, does nothing and will never be the real catalist for change.
You and anyone trying to justify this can eat a bucket of spiderwebs.
Anyways. The end.
God these idiots are insufferable
“You need to listen to black people”
Black person here. Burning down and looting small businesses (especially black owned ones) is counterproductive. There is noexcuse. You being angry does not give you permission to destroy property and steal from those who are innocent and arent even related to this.
@curlyfreaksword Also “listen to black voices”, “be an ally” (which you mean as dont disagree with anything we do) and mocking people and disregarding their inout based on their race is actually really racist and terrible. Not all black people think the same. We arent a hive mind. And if you dare wueation someone’s race because they dont agree with you, you need to have a seat and follow your own advice. Supporting a cause doesnt mean you cant be critical of the actions of others with similar affilitions.
MLK was talking about protests, not riots. Peaceful protests. How actually dare you use his name to justify burning down low income apartments and small black businesses of completely innocent people just because youre angry. How is robbing a theift store sending a message to the government? That’s just an excuse. You wanted stuff and a riot was a good cover. If you really wanted to send a message, you would have exclusively targetted the perpetrator or government buildings. Not that this would be a proper response. But much better than just running wild and destroying anything you can get your hands on. That’s childish and counterproductive.
It’s actually disgusting for people like you to just be jumping to defend bad actions.
Back to the opening point.
How’s that working out for ya
How about the toddler shot to death in the streets? How about the toddler shot to death in her own apartment? You people are fucking disgusting! VIOLENCE NEGATES VIOLENCE! TAKE YOUR HEADS OUT OF YOUR FUCKING ASSES! The blood is on your hands.
I’m so sick of hearing “companies will recover, Target said lives can’t be replaced but their stuff can” yeah, and so have other major corporations. Sony said it as well…since they sell their things to the stores that everything was stolen from, so of course they are fine with it. Target will gladly take a sacrifice if it means the surrounding small businesses suffer more, from a lockdown to a burn-down. They won’t have any competition, and that’s exactly what they want.
You idiots are giving the rich that you claim to despise EXACTLY what they want, and you’re giving the police you claim to despise (though you also think they should be the only ones carrying firearms) more fuel to open fire with rubber bullets on you.
Fuck off all of you. I love how a riot, or a few cases of looting NEGATES Black Lives Matter.
Trevor Noah said it beautifully:
“I saw so many people online saying, these riots are disgusting and not how a society should be run. You do not loot and you do not burn this is not how our society is built.
Okay. What is society? Society is a contract that we sign as human beigns amongst each other. We agree in common rules and common ideals..the contract is only as stong as the people abiding by it.
But if you think of being a Black person in America and you’re living in any place where you’re not having a good time, ask yourself when you watch those people what vested interest do they have in mantaining the contract?
..Black American people watch time and time again how the contract that they have signed with society has not been honored”

The social contract is broken

But these are just some “pretty words” from Black folk.
Anyways stay mad all you racists.
Gee, maybe you shouldn’t put your all your faith in the fallible higher power that is humanity and find a way to take care of shit yourself. On top of that, don’t go around being a petulant child when shit that you have a hand in being able to change and being prepared for doesn’t go your way.
Your an adult now. You ain’t got no excuse whatsoever to not take life into your own hands. Your own life and responsibility for yourself and not be an absolute hooligan trying to take things from others because you covet it or because they worked harder than you. You’re not only hurting yourself but the people you aren’t paying any attention to in your ‘righteous cause’ for so called justice.
Quit being an absolute fuckwit, pull your head out of your ass, and unfuck yourself before you go around fucking other people.
All these “pretty words” are just fine excuses to lash out because you weren’t and aren’t being responsible for yourself. Absolutely fucking disgusting. Take care of shir yourself and ask for help when you can’t.
I legit hope you lose everything, OP. You clearly don’t give a shit about black lives and just wanna use us for your own agenda. Go fuck yourself with a 12-inch cactus.
Signed - a black woman tired of this bullshit.
No. I want people to honestly be able to take care of themselves, and I believe you can't do that when you're in a position of weakness from people enabling the worst possible things in yourself. If you know better and actively take part in trying to make things better for yourself and things around you (and of course take breaks, but work fucking hard at it), then I do believe you will gather people around you to make even just your tiny part of the world better not only for yourself but those around you too. Being a goddamn child and throwing a hissy fit and a tantrum to get your way and making everyone else miserable in the process because you aren't getting what you want and also aren't putting any work in towards it or even asking for help in helping yourself towards getting what you want or planning anything or doing ANYTHING whatsoever to try and get it with your own hands, no matter how absolutely fucking fucked life may have you by the neck is only going to keep you endlessly in a shit fucking mindset, mannerisms, and actions of childlike chicanery. And I will have none of it.
-Signed, a black man tired of the soft bigotry of low expectations.

this is the last month you can reblog this
This is even funnier when you can hear her various “mmmm”s.
The last day.
the fight is harder each year.
gotta keep going because nothing ever stops.
you deserve to be new and whole.
Can someone explain what’s happening besides someone being reborn?
In the first comic, which is from the Warrior’s point of view, the Warrior has defeated the Monster, who jeers that there will always be another Monster to fight. The Monster dissolves into mist, leaving another tiny, baby Monster in its place. The Warrior picks up this helpless new baby Monster and carries it away. They will try again and do better this time.
In the second comic, which is from the Monster’s point of view, the Monster says that this has to happen; it can’t come with the Warrior, and there will always be another. It tells the Warrior to use what they have learned to fight. It wants to die knowing that the Warrior has hope for the future. It dissolves into mist, and the exhausted Warrior collapses. The new baby Monster comes and brings the Warrior some water in a leaf. Because we are reading this in the Monster’s voice, we realize that it is a new Monster, but also somehow, magically, the same. We also see that the Monster is not inherently evil. It is only very strong, and inevitable.
The third comic is a dialogue between the Monster and the Warrior. The Warrior is exhausted and horrifically wounded. The Monster is also horribly maimed. They are both dying. The Warrior doesn’t want to fight anymore. The Monster tells them to rest and heal. The Warrior hands over their amulet, and we see the Monster’s paw become a hand just before they both dissolve into mist. It clears, revealing that the Monster has turned into a beautiful humanoid, who says they will take care of the new baby monster the Warrior has turned into. The two have changed roles. The Warrior takes up the former Warrior’s gear and strides into the new year with the new baby Monster riding on their shoulders.
It is a beautiful, ruthless, hopeful metaphor about keeping up the good fight, year after year, even when we are worn down, and how we can still face the new year with hope and light, no matter how painful the last one was, and how it is okay to rest if we can’t fight.
It’s not the new year, but things are so difficult for so many of us right now, and we are so worn down from so many fights on so many fronts, I feel like we could all use this again. Love, rest, fight, love.

Make him KIND and SINCERE.
Superman is the ultimate himbo and DC is sleeping on him.
Modern filmmakers don’t know how to write a superhero who’s not dismissive and sarcastic and ‘ironic’ about every superhero trope. Superman doesn’t say, “Ugh, look at these silly colorful tights! So ridiculous!” or roll his eyes at Lex Luthor’s monologue just to lampshade that he’s monologuing. They tried to make him an angsty antihero and look how terrible that was.
I’m more than half convinced that modern filmmakers barely know how to make a character who’s just… nice.
Vex wants superman to be ~*relevant*~, not relevant.
I mean, she had to ignore how Lex Luthor is one of the smartest folks on the planet, which I doubt they’d call Trump.
You know it’s a cold day in Hell when even fucking 4chan understands Superman better than everyone else.
>t.Person who adores Man of Steel
Nice.
It’s disturbing how not a single one of you has noticed that maybe he’s unrelatable because he has no problems, is invulnerable unless you can find or synthesize magic rocks from space, or are a genetically modified space monster specifically built to kill him.
Immigrant? He isn’t even human, but what’re they going to do, write a story where the entire INS organization has kryptonite weapons and jail cells when supes shows up at the border without proper documentation?
Who does Superman fight for that rejects him? Outside of Luthor, name a person/character that routinely rebukes him? The closest you’re going to get is his best friend who they occasionally give a ring “in case someone has to put Superman down”.
Loyal to ideas, not nations? What does it matter if he can simply decide to do what he wants regardless? What if he decided to fly down and tear the roof off the white house? The fuck is a subcommittee going to do?
The president Luthor angle is stupid, because a decade ago comics figured out Luthor’s angle. Canonically at the moment, Luthor hates Superman because with a Superman around, what is the point of human achievement? Why build a rocket to go to mars when this asshole can pick up the module and just fly there with the astronauts, oxygen tanks over his shoulder, in a day? Why build new submarines to explore the ocean if this idiot can just fly over the sean with his x-ray goddamned vision? That’s Luthor’s bit of late.
Who can relate to the alien who pretends to be a straight white man in america (FOR NO REASON, MIND YOU) who never hungers, never requires shelter, doesn’t matter if the rents late, doesn’t matter if the car is repo’d, how are you supposed to relate to the asshole who literally can’t have relatable problems? He eats sunlight for fucks sake.
And even if you somehow got to him. Let’s say you set the nuke to explode just as you shot his wife in the head, and he disposes of the nuke…. He can put his hands on the ground, do a handstand, and push the planets rotation in reverse to rewind time, if he so chooses.
It’s real easy to stand for hope when nothing can more than moderately inconvenience you.
I mean, shit, he died, and in the comics came back as a pair of Supermen made out of lightning, and in that movie he came back because everyone else wished hard enough.
The last time they tried to figure out a way to make Superman relatable…. They finally settled on him and Batman having mother’s that share a name.
If a character’s physically invulnerable, you make the challenge emotional. You put people they care about at risk, which in Superman’s case is everyone. It’s not hard.
Also, the point of the Martha scene was to show Batman realizing Superman is a person, not an alien threat.
Superman doesn’t pretend to be human. He is human. He was raised on earth by a kind farm couple, he has the experience and life as a human. He had crushes, went to high school and had bullies. He’s not some alien that came to earth as an adult and decided to hang out there to obverse humans. The whole point of his character is that despite being basically a god he’s still very human and relatable.
Hell, he’s more relatable than Batman in a sense.
Also “He can put his hands on the ground, do a handstand, and push the planets rotation in reverse to rewind time, if he so chooses”
Wow never heard of that one before. Its not like that was a cop out and extremely stupid thing that happened in the movie that literally never happens in canon.
In conclusion. Please actually read comics and learn who Superman actually is and stop basing your opinion on Snyder films (aka the worst version of the character).
And this is why dumbasses think it’s hard to make Superman relevant, they don’t know a thing about him.
They don’t know shit about writing either.
Hard to write someone who loves humanity if they themselves don’t know how to love
They really can’t understand sublety and nuance.
Everything has to be a 1-to-1 reflection of reality. No metaphors, no symbolism, no idealism, no fantasy.
In the Snyder movies, they spent a great deal of time on his very understandable human concerns. Sure, he doesn’t actually need food and water to live, but he’d like to have friends, family, and to help people when he can, and he’s very uncomfortable with religious implications, because he thinks of himself as a person, as some guy from Kansas.

Even if superman was all of that stuff that unrepentantnerdshit said, if you’re writing a reboot you can literally ignore stuff and change stuff!
Don’t like that he “eats sunlight” (which I’ve literally never heard of in Superman canon until now)? Poof, now he eats human food.
But changing the world around Superman could reveal flaws that wouldn’t seem like flaws before! Superman’s only physical weakness is Kryptonite? Seems small, unless Kryptonite falls around everywhere and becomes a resource that humans use all the time. Even Clark Kent’s parents use kryptonite as a fuel for their farm equipment. Huh, why is Little Clark having a meltdown for seemingly no reason? I guess he’s sick. Let’s help him calm down, and then get back to shoveling these weird green rocks. Disabilities are disabilities because the person’s qualities don’t equip them for the world, or because the world around them clashes with their qualities.
Why does the robot that destroys Superman have to be built to destroy Superman? Are you really telling me that no other alien species was smarter or more powerful than the Krypton people? He’s stronger than humans, that doesn’t mean he has to be the strongest and most invulnerable thing on Earth.
Who says he never worries about his car getting towed, or his rent being late? Clark Kent can’t just fly to work, that would be very suspicious. Clark Kent has to live somewhere. Do you think he’s making THAT much money from being a reporter? Or a superhero?
I misread one part earlier. When unrepetentnerd said “ What if he decided to fly down and tear the roof off the white house? The fuck is a subcommittee going to do?” I read it as “The fuck is a supercommittee going to do?” which made me think of The Superfriends. Even that silly example of a show could give someone ideas! Yeah, I guess Superman could get high one day and tear the roof of the white house, but are his Superfriends really going to ignore that action and let it slide? He has an image to maintain, he has to make compromises, he doesn’t always get his way, he can’t throw super-tantrums and do whatever he wants (although, you should read the “Superman is a Dick” blog if you want to see someone interpreting old-comics Superman as a hilariously evil “hero”).
He can’t control people’s minds. If Lois Lane made bad decisions and her life went downhill, Superman couldn’t just force her to make better decisions. The worst he could do was confront her, a very human thing to do, and she could still ignore that. Maybe Superman feels helpless watching people around him make choices that he can’t really save them from, whatever those choices are. You could explore that.
You can do whatever you want with Superman canon/headcanon/fanon and it will still be a million times more creative than just saying “Nah, forget it, this guy is a Mary Sue that can never be an interesting character.”
It’s your big day
Happy birth day stan
And on the opposite end of the spectrum.

I’m so confused why he would think cookie dough would give him salmonella??? What parent told him this. There’s no chicken in there!
Two words: Raw eggs.
?? What kind of world do you live in where Raw eggs carry salmonella or are in anyway unsafe
Don’t ask me, ask them Americans. I’m an Asian just passing the word on
*deep breath* Though the risk is small, raw eggs can carry samonella.
MORE THREATENINGLY Raw wheat can carry E. Coli. However, if you don’t mind making your own cookie dough, you can easily make it safely.
Take your standard recipe. Omit the eggs. Eggs serve as a binding agent to hold the cookie together. Since we’re eating the dough raw, that’s not needed. Take the flour, put it in a pan and bake it at 350 for 7 minutes. Any E. Coli is now dead.
Just mix the rest of the ingredients together as the recipe is called for and BAM, perfectly safe edible cookie dough.
Thank u so fucking much for this wisdom
