This pigeon found his way into a factory last night and had over half of his wing ripped off when it was caught inside moving machinery. What was left of it was entirely crushed and broken exposed bones up to the shoulder joint.
A factory worker found him, and I managed to pick him up and get him to the vet for a lifesaving emergency wing amputation. He is now recovering at home, and has been named Bucky.
The surgery set me back a little over $1400, which is something I cannot necessarily afford at the moment. I work as a waitress a few days a week, and I can’t pick up extra shifts as I am training a new service dog and he requires hours of my attention every day. The emergency surgery took up about a months worth of my wages and tips.
Any donations at all would help make up for the difference, and be a massive help. Any help in this situation would be deeply appreciated, even if all you can do is share this post.
Thank you everyone who helped with suggestions on immediate and overnight care, veterinary recommendations, and any continued support or donations. I will do my best to keep everybody updated on Bucky’s situation as he recovers.
